AUTOMATION
Meaning
• The term AUTOMATION means use of any machinery or
equipment that works on basic principle of a simple
algorithm.(or a flowchart)
• It is set of procedure and techniques that are imparted into a
machinery to do the work automatically that was traditionally
done with the help of human efforts.
• The term was firstly used by Mr. D.S.Harder who worked at
General Motor Company and gave the term Automation to
mean Automatic Handling.
• In short we can say that any machinery or equipment that can
handle itself and give its contribution in any type of work is an
integral part of AUTOMATION.

• Industrial Automation 4.0: Use of automatic machines in
industries for manufacturing, packing etc.
• Industrial architecture collapsing: 5 level Purdue model
• Level 5 - Business Systems
• Level 4 - Plant Level (ERP, MRP, and MES)
• Level 3 - Operation Unit Level
• Level 2 - Machine/Process Automation Level
• Level 1 - Controller Level
• Level 0 - Sensor/Actuator Level
• Remote Monitoring: Person can remote or can control any
device even from far distance from place of installation.

• Integrated Machine Design: Software design & modeling tools
would optimize, debug, increase yield, improve quality & cost
is reduced for manufacturing process before a single machine
is built.
• ROBOTICS: We can call it as FUTURE.
We can build intelligent robots that are able to do any
kind of work given & that to even without complaining. Robots
allow us to achieve goals of increasing productivity, along with
quality assurance but the most important benefit, is the
manufacturing coupled with lower cost allowing accelerating
adoption.
Interest Area
• My field of interest is to study the use of robotics in our every
day life.
• Robots that may be used in industries & that can help an
individual at the time of emergency.
• If I am provided with an opportunity of internship then I
would love to study the basic robotics along with their
enhancement in use of practical life.
