Before We Begin…
Share what you are learning, ask questions or chat
with others on Twitter!
#ABTwitter102
3. The ability to connect with innovators, leaders, change
agents and rebels from anywhere in the world and the
capacity to learn, share and facilitate ongoing networks on
any topic is critical.
Silo busting, barrier removing and honest engagement are
the values I see already in my infancy with twitter.

First Things First

Goal
To create a network of “change agents” which exchanges ideas and new
innovations in healthcare reform.
Technology Choice
- Twitter: keep a pulse on emerging trends and upcoming theories for
change leadership
- Linked In: to stay informed but to socialize my professional network to
upcoming change leadership methods and discussions.
Evaluation/Questions?
- Do I receive emerging ideas and literature through these venues?
- Am I growing my network and making connections for my work?

When to Tweet
• It’s up to you
• Experiment, but pay attention to the results
• Some content is more timely than other content
• If possible, try to spread them out
12. #ABTwitter102 | @tweetvandijk @kevin4quality @banff_squirrel April 8, 2015
What to Tweet
• What type of content do you like?
• Okay to tweet about popular content, but try
adding your own spin
• Remember to assess what your followers are liking
13. #ABTwitter102 | @tweetvandijk @kevin4quality @banff_squirrel April 8, 2015
What to Tweet
Links
• Keep them short (ow.ly or bit.ly)
• Correlation between # of links people tweet and #
of followers they have
• Try putting them about 25% of the way through
your tweet

22. Transparency is key.
But be careful what you ask for.
As part of an ad campaign, SeaWorld, which has been heavily criticized for
its treatment of captive orca whales, created a website to answer the
public's questions. Using #AskSeaWorld, Twitter users can ask anything
23. Helpful Hints?
Starting a tweet with @thepersonyouaretweeting will
only be seen by followers of both your and their
accounts. If you add punctuation to the start, it will be
seen by the public.
Optimize your profile with
good photos and strong,
concise bio.
Images uploaded to your tweet will show up in the
newsfeed. Links to Instagram posts or Facebook
posts will just show as URL’s
Engagement is key to building an
audience. Reply to all questions,
retweet good content from peers,
initiate conversations rather than just
react.
3rd party platforms allow you to have multiple
search columns. I like ‘Tweetdeck’and
Hootsuite is popular as well. Both of these
are free.
Make lists of groups or people to follow. You can then
see the tweets just from this select group , making it
easier to monitor/respond. These lists can be public or
private. My lists include ‘local hotels’, ‘Calgary media’,
etc.
Follow twitter accounts that are
relevant to your own account. Allows
them to be aware of your account
and possibly engage with it.
Automated direct messages to new followers
are not well received, even if it is a ‘thanks’
It is fine to post the same/similar
tweet multiple times over the
course of the day. Your tweets will
only be seen by a fraction of your
followers for each post.
