1998: Falling in love with Portugal
Ana Dias (Techminho) organized the first CISAER meeting in Sintra.
We analysed online courses from 30 institutions in 26 countries.
The analyses resulted in 8 recommendations:
1. Promote national and international harmonization of degrees, certificates, credits, and
grades to facilitate online mobility of students.
2. Oppose national regulations that inhibits institutions from charging tuition fees.
3. Focus on cost effective online education.
4. Develop better systems for administration of online education.
5. Support initiatives for training of online teachers, administrators, and instructional
designers.
6. Oppose regulations and attitudes that inhibits online assessment.
7. Support further research on online pedagogy and didactics.
8. Develop and implement strategies to reduce the workload of online teachers.

The Portuguese project partners:
• Tecminho
• Minho University
• Inofor

and Carina Baptista.
The report presented the major findings from our six regional
analyses.
Data was collected from in-depth interviews with 113 experts
in 17 countries.
The analyses of the interviews revealed as many as 52
different commercial and 35 self-developed LMS systems.
2006: E-learning quality in European SMEs
Project coordinator: Vanda Vieira, CECOA in Lisboa
The laughing project Seven e-learning advantages were pointed out
in the case descriptions:
1. Improved flexibility in time and location
2. Reduced costs for travel, accommodation and seminar
rooms
3. Swifter and cheaper distribution of learning material
4. Quicker introduction of new products due to accelerated
training of many employees
5. Increased sales because customers perceive e-learning
as a sign of high competence
6. Increased sales because e-learning could add value to
the product
7. Improved relations with customers and suppliers

2010: A transparent course on an open stage at MPeL
It was interesting, but work intensive, to follow the students' work because they
were published in several different web2.0 services. They created personal
learning environments (PLE) outside the University’s LMS. Something that can
be both challenging and threatening for teachers and educational institutions.
It was thought-provoking that everyone could observe what students produced
in the course. Neither teachers nor students are always doing good work, and
in such transparent environments low quality work is easy to spot.
However, maybe we therefore struggle a little harder to do our best?

  • 3. 1998: Falling in love with Portugal Ana Dias (Techminho) organized the first CISAER meeting in Sintra. We analysed online courses from 30 institutions in 26 countries. The analyses resulted in 8 recommendations: 1. Promote national and international harmonization of degrees, certificates, credits, and grades to facilitate online mobility of students. 2. Oppose national regulations that inhibits institutions from charging tuition fees. 3. Focus on cost effective online education. 4. Develop better systems for administration of online education. 5. Support initiatives for training of online teachers, administrators, and instructional designers. 6. Oppose regulations and attitudes that inhibits online assessment. 7. Support further research on online pedagogy and didactics. 8. Develop and implement strategies to reduce the workload of online teachers.
  • 4. 2002: Web-edu The Portuguese project partners: • Tecminho • Minho University • Inofor Project members in picture: Helmut Fritsch, Paulo Dias, Ana Dias, Pedro Pimenta, Gro-Anett Olsen, Morten Flate Paulsen and Carina Baptista. The report presented the major findings from our six regional analyses. Data was collected from in-depth interviews with 113 experts in 17 countries. The analyses of the interviews revealed as many as 52 different commercial and 35 self-developed LMS systems.
  • 5. 2006: E-learning quality in European SMEs Project coordinator: Vanda Vieira, CECOA in Lisboa The laughing project Seven e-learning advantages were pointed out in the case descriptions: 1. Improved flexibility in time and location 2. Reduced costs for travel, accommodation and seminar rooms 3. Swifter and cheaper distribution of learning material 4. Quicker introduction of new products due to accelerated training of many employees 5. Increased sales because customers perceive e-learning as a sign of high competence 6. Increased sales because e-learning could add value to the product 7. Improved relations with customers and suppliers

  • 9. 2010: A transparent course on an open stage at MPeL It was interesting, but work intensive, to follow the students' work because they were published in several different web2.0 services. They created personal learning environments (PLE) outside the University’s LMS. Something that can be both challenging and threatening for teachers and educational institutions. It was thought-provoking that everyone could observe what students produced in the course. Neither teachers nor students are always doing good work, and in such transparent environments low quality work is easy to spot. However, maybe we therefore struggle a little harder to do our best?
