Qom is a city in Iran. It lies 156 kilometers (97 mi) by road southwest of Tehran and is the
capital of Qom Province. At the 2006 census, its population was 957,496, in 241,827 families. It
is situated on the banks of the Qom River.
Textile is a traditional Iranian industry that originated from native science and expert
knowledge. Qom, being one of the key centers of this industry has several textile factories,
such as "Iran Merinoos". This factory has been established in 1968 out of the city on that time.
Due to the extension of city, the factory located in the urban context. Textile industry
renovation law however means that large factories are no longer allowed in the heart of the
city, resulting in this particular factory being relocated. Consequently, the site of the former
factory has been earmarked by Qom municipality for extensive redevelopment targeting ever
changing urban needs.
One proposal for the part of the site being considered by the consultant engineers was a
museum. This would be of cultural and educational value and also provides the subject of this
project.
AIM
• To design value of Iranian industrial architecture as a historical context of this value and
improve the quality of context.
• The main aim is to create a build environment which would reflect the traditional and
contemporary textile art of different era’s of Iranian architecture.
• To generate a vocabulary and design temperament of the project for architectural
expression that will reflect the urban character of that place.
• To design as per vernacular architecture of the city Qom.
• The design of the museum can be enhanced by providing a commercial outlet, offering
textile products, thereby adding upon revenue of Qom City,Iran.
NEED OF PROJECT
• In the present scenario of globalization & commercialization, city of Qom has grown
rapidly in the recent year. Although the city has grown very well in the recent years in
terms of the infrastructures required, but there has been a continuous need of a hotel,

offices, shopping centres which could incorporate world class level of accommodation &
corporate offices.
SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT
The objective was to create a cultural, educational and recreational experience for
people to learn about the textile industry in an interesting and attractive environment.
This can be achieved by enhanced the museum with a commercial outlet, offering
textile products.
To develop effective spaces in the museum which could becomes a perfect place of,
interaction, as well as recreation for the people in the city.
To develop the facilities & the amenities at the museum which could serve the people in
the most functional way & also to create a perfect ambience, so that people tends to
visit more & more there.
To develop more & more revenue for the city.
SITE
Site is located at the mohd. amin blouvered. The site irregular polygon in shape and is
surrounded by mixed landuse and residential buildings having 45m wide road in front of
it.
Site area=3.6 acres Approx.

then finally reaching to site synthesis.
• Data collection & research work related to the project
Analysis and conclusion based on the observations made during the above mentioned research,
and thus evolving the concept, and further enhancing the design, which can be sustainable &
can solve the required commercial needs of the city.
