Teaching approach: My lesson plan is based on the PPP method and the
communicative approach.
Integration of skills: What skills will be integrated and
how?Communicative skills will be developed through interaction.
Students will develop listening and speaking skills by listening and singing
songs, and by listening to the teacher and repeating. Reading and writing
skills will be also developed by answering questions.
Materials and resources: I’ll use a computer to watch a video. I’ll also use
worksheets in photocopy.
Pedagogical use of ICT in class or at home: I will use a video to support the
teaching points. The use of videos is a motivating tool for students.
Seating arrangement: At the beginning of the lesson students will be on
their usual seats. They always sit in groups of three boys and three girls.
Then I’llask them to sit all together and I’llsit with them to do the different
activities. At the closure stage I’ll ask them to stand in the middle of the
classroom to play a game.
3. Assessment: what will be assessed and how: I’ll monitor all my students
through the lesson and I’ll check whether if they understand what I say or
not. I’lltry to make them repeat the different patterns and encourage them
to use the chunks meaningfully. Although they are in 5th grade they are
beginners and they don’t speak English. Their teacher doesn’t speak
English in the lessons so they don’t understand the language. According to
this, I’ll try to use gestures as much as possible to help them understand.
Warm up (10 minutes)
Purpose: To begin the lesson and create a comfortable atmosphere; to introduce
the students to the topic.
The students will enter the classroom and I’ll greet them. “Good morning! How
are you?”. They will probably sit in their usual seats so I’ll ask them to sit all
together as the previous lessons. I will point at the posters we did inthe precious
lessons and I will ask the students “Which of these animals can swim?” I’ll do the
swimming gesture so students can understand what I ask. They will probably
answer “the fish, the duck” I’ll also ask “which of these animals can run?” and they
will probably name the animals that can run as horse, zebra, etc.
Transition: “We will watch a video now so we all can see what animals can do!”
Presentation (10 minutes)
Purpose: To Expose the students to the language; to enhance students’
communicative skills and to develop or improve comprehensive skills.
At this stage I will show the students a video. While we watch the video I will
repeat the verbs named and I will do the gestures to help the students identify
them.

Transition: “Ok! Did you like the video? Let’s identify the verbs now!”
Development (25 minutes)
Purpose: to develop communicative skills; to foster interaction and to check
students’ knowledge of new vocabulary.
I’llwrite the date on the blackboard before we start with the activities.I’llask the
students about the weather.
Activity 1: (10 minutes) as first activity I will give the students a photocopy in
which they have to match the verbs with their corresponding picture. We will
watch the video again to do this activity so students can identify the different
verbs while watching and listening.
5. Activity 2: (15 minutes) in the second activity I’ll give the students another
worksheet in which they have to tick or cross what animals can or can’t do. After
they complete the table I’ll ask them questions as “Can the dog run? Can the cat
fly?” and they will have to answer “Yes, it can” or “No, it can’t”. To help them I’ll
write the questions and the possible answers on the blackboard so they can use
them as a guide.
6. Transition: “You
did a wonderful
job kids! Now it’s
time to play a
game!”
Closure (15 minutes)
Purpose: to raise students’ motivation.
To finish the lesson we will play “Simon Says”. I’ll ask the students to stand in the
middle of the classroom and then I’ll tell them how to play the game because it is
possible they don’t know it. We will use the different verbs to play this game. I’ll
be in front of the students at first, but then the student who wins the game will
7. be the one who will stand in front of the rest and give the commands. We will
play until the break time.
“Great job everybody! We had a great time today but it’s time to go now, see you
tomorrow! Bye bye!”
