• Can the disabled person accurately take his or
her medication?
• Is his/her home being kept clean?
• Is he or she clean?
• Can he or she provide food for himself?
• Is the home safe for his or her use?

timely, and protect his own assets from others, a Conservator

9. Alternatives to
Conservatorships
Before we start a conservatorship, we look to see if
there is a valid durable power of attorney and a trust in
existence which may be used. For health care, we
look to see if a valid Duriable Health Care Power of
Attorney or Advance Health Care Directive is in
existence.
