 Responsible for the leading and managing the day-to-day activities of the IPTV applications development
group.This 10 person group was responsible for delivering interactive TV applications on the MSTV
Mediaroom Platform and has filed 120+ patents
 Created new application concepts for prototyping and production deployment which included platform
capabilities called “Planks”.As a resultI currently I have 66 IPTV related patents filed.
 Created application business/functional requirements, use cases,and lead the effort to refine UI wire frames &
graphics developed bythe customer experience team.
 Lead the review session and provided design guidance for user interfaces related to customer facing IPTV
applications.
 Successfullydeveloped 25+ interactive IPTV applications these applications allow subscribers to access live
internet, podcast,e-commerce sites and mobile devices from the TV UI.
 Most of applications were designed to show convergence between the TV, PC/Internet and Mobile Device
(iPhone,Blackberry & cell phone).Applications were design with the 3 screen strategyin mind so that many
apps would work well on a PC, TV and mobile device.
 Converged TV/Mobile Device applications:
o Mobile Remote DVR (iPhone,Blackberry, Cell) – mobile web application thatallows the users to set,
change and delete recordings from the MSTV STB using their mobile device.
o Yellowpages TV app allows the TV viewer to search Yellowpages.com for advertisers and push
listings to the cell phone.Application also had the ability to do click to call from the TV and selectthe
cell phone as the ring back number.
o Ring tone application down loads selected ring tones from to TV application to the Cell Phone
o Cell phone video up load application allows videos taken by the cell phone to be push to the MSTV
system and played back by the STB/TV
 TV/Web Portal Apps
o Remote DVR Web Application allows the user from the Bellsouth.netweb site to set, change and
delete recordings from the MSTV STB.
o Internet TV Application provides live internetvideo channels from around the world that can be played
on the STB/TV
o Audio podcastapplication automaticallydownloads podcastfrom around the world and allows the
user to play them back on the STB/TV
o Ecommerce purchasing application allows the user to buy products from Amazon through the TV
o Personal Video Sharing application allows users to broadcastlive or upload video content via Sony
HD handycam to MSTV platform and have users in their buddy listview the video on their TV.
o Caller ID Application provided Caller ID overlay to the TV on incoming calls,calls sentto VM were
store in a Message center for later playback. This also included SMS text messages.
 Provide liaison role between applications developmentgroup and marketing byproviding guidance to the
developmentteam where itrelates to marketing desired applications and features.
 Perform the role of SME as it relates to the cable industry, productdesign principles and user experience base
on years of Digital Cable TV experience.
 Produce projectplans and status updates for IPTV marketing and other AT&T executives.

 Performed weeklystaff meetings between marketing and engineering to resolve productrolloutissues and
planning for future productrollouts.
 Produced progress status reports and projectplans for field roll out of SVOD (subscription Video on Demand),
AVOD (Adult Video On Demand),new STB clientapplications and new Scientific Atlanta and Motorola STB
deployments.
 Developed UI requirements and design for SVOD client that were presented to STB and video server vendors

Headend Systems Architect Mar 1995 – Feb 2001
 Held a Lead Cable Headend Systems Architecture role on the BellSouth AmericastDigital TV project. The
interactive TV projectconsists ofa number of systems and components thattransmitDigital video,audio,and
data to the subscriber’s home.
 These systems included UNIXSGI & DEC Digital MPEG Advertising Insertion Systems,StarSightSTB Grid
Guide Data Collection Systems (IPG / EPG), EmergencyAlert Systems (EAS), UNIX HP MPEG Video
Servers, Scientific Atlanta and Zenith Digital STB's (Set Top Boxes), and Harmonic Real Time MPEG-2
encoding systems (RTE).Digital delivery systems were ofthree types HFC (Hybrid-Fiber Coax), MMDS (Multi-
Channel Multi-PointDistribution Service),and IFITL (Integrated Fiber in the Loop).
 Preformed testing,data analysis and plotting reports ofbit error rates between MMDS and Satellite STBs while
taking into accountatmospheric conditions.One primaryrole was to correlate lighting strike data to bit errors
based on QAM frequency for both MMDS and Satellite STBs.
 Integrated UNIX based MPEG-2 video servers and NT based data retrieval systems in Atlanta, Orlando, and
New Orleans Operational centers (Headends).Created testplans and performed testing ofHP VOD Servers,
MPEG -2 Real Time encoders and Zenith STBs.
 Created the initial design specs for EPG (Electronic Programming Guide) data collection and distribution
system.Installed,tested,configured and preformed system administration role for all (Atlanta, New Orleans
and Orlando) EPG data collection and distribution system.
 Created the initial design specs for MPEG-2 digital ad insertion system.Installed,tested,configured and
preformed UNIX system administration role for all (Atlanta, New Orleans and Orlando) SGI Digital Video Ad
Insertion systems.Created shell scripts and cron jobs to perform routine maintenance and critical alert
messages to text pagers.
