2. Overview
• For every one pupil excluded permanently excluded
from school, for reasons to do with drugs and alcohol,
<27 will be given a fixed term exclusion.
• Permanent Exclusions:
– The number of drug and alcohol permanent exclusions has
fallen from 400 in 2006/7 to 290 in 2010/11.
– However, as a proportion of all permanent exclusions there
has been a rise from 5.3% to 6.5% over the same period.
• Fixed Term Exclusions:
– The number of drug and alcohol fixed term exclusions has
fallen from 8,180 in 2006/7 to 7,910 in 2010/11
– However, as a proportion of all fixed term exclusions there
has been a rise from 2.2% to 2.8% over the same period.

on the reasons schools exclude their pupils.
