headquarters in North Carolina.
THE CHALLENGE
The McKenney’s team had to maintain a tight
budget and meet an aggressive five-month
installation schedule including the entire upfit
in the new commercial office building—before
precast panels blocked the team. The job was
won based on the design/assist experience of
the McKenney’s team which also had to prove
it could seamlessly execute the installation.
THE SOLUTION
To stay on track and within budget, ­McKenney’s
expedited approval of shop drawings to
ensure everything was coordinated ahead of
precast panel installation. In lieu of a buck-
hoist, a unique “trailer flying” approach was
used to efficiently lift materials, pipe, duct
prefab and equipment to each elevated slab
during the rough-in phases. McKenney’s
also fabricated all the sheet metal and used
grooved piping to speed up pipe installation.
THE RESULTS
McKenney’s used its design/assist knowledge
and unique installation capabilities to fast-
track the job and allowed MSC to move in
on schedule.
