STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
BACKGROUND OF SUCCESFUL PROJECT
               (BEIJING NATIONAL STADIUM)

 The stadium was designed for use throughout the 2008 Summer Olympics and
  Paralympics.

 The capacity for this stadium can support 91,000 people.

 This project started on 24 December 2003 and opened officially on 28 June 2008.
 The stadium cost US$423 million and it’s located at Olympic, Green

 The facilities that include :
   • grass field of 7,811 square meters
   • 91,000 seat
   • Temperature and airflow of every surface were optimized
   • A shopping mall
Factor of succesfully in the implementation of stakeholder management
    The great transformation
      – Every sub project that handle from the worldwide succesfully construction
        company.

a) The bulk of Beijing's Olympics funds will come from the sale of sponsorship
   and broadcasting rights for the Games

b) Build-operate-transfer system, where private investors responsible for
   overseeing construction become operators for a 30-year contract period
BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT
                           FAILURE

 Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium also known as stadium gong badak in
  Terengganu.
 constructed by a South Korean construction firm
 owner by Terengganu State Government
 capacity 50,000 people.
 Construction cost is RM 270 million
 Duration of construction within 4 years (2006-2008)
PURPOSE
 Sport complex mostly for football.
 first major use was as the main venue for Sukma Games 2008

                              CAUSE OF PROJECT FAILURE

The major cause for the collapse of the roof was identified to be the design fault and
inappropriate material
 the project management team did not have the necessary skills and competence
  to manage a project of such magnitude and complexity.
 The faulty design with failure to take into account the support condition of the
  roof structure.
 Failed to conduct a design analysis, considering that the complex architectural
  shape and large spans made the structure very sensitive to any movement in the
  supporting structures.
 The undesirable manner in which the structure was erected and that no checks
  were done during the erection process.
