Bharatanatyam is what she breathes. It is not a mere passion, but what she calls her life and
soul. Initiated into the art at the tender age of four, she learnt under various gurus. People like
Kalaimamani Smt. Krishnakumari Narendran & Natanamamani Sri A.Lakshman have been her
guiding light on this path into the world of dance.
…the nuances of dance
Now under the tutelage of Sri A.Lakshman, she is one of the prime disciples of Nrithyalakshana.
Always a student despite having given numerous public performances, she is fine-tuning her
skills of abhinaya from Padmavibushan Smt.Kalanidhi Narayan and Nrithyachoodamani Smt.
Priyadarsini Govind. She is also under the guidance of Bagavatulu Sri Seetharama Sharma for
her nattuvangam training.
…at home, on stage
1997 marked the first milestone of her debut public performance and there has been no
looking back since. Personification and poise is what marks her presentation of this fine dance
form. Several critics have acclaimed her stage presence and footwork abilities.
…the many facets of a dancer
With a master’s degree in media studies and Human Resources, she strives to blend her abilities
in the right proportion to carve a niche for her self. An active participant in various programs
presented by Smt. Krishnakumari Narendran & Sri A.Lakshman, her repertoire includes
performing at various cultural organizations in India, US and UK. And in the past she has graced
many a lead role in her gurus’ dance ballets and projects.

She has staged a solo thematic dance project on the Indian saint Meera Giridhara Gopala and
Sri Shakthi. She has performed widely in the US covering cities like Washington DC, Atlanta,
Detroit, Dallas, Houston, LA, San Francisco, Pittsburgh and a few more in UK.
Some of the endowments she has won include Dharmavarapu Seetharama Anjaneyalu for the
best all rounder in the year 2004,the Balasaraswathi prize for best performance in the year
2005, Spirit of youth/Music Academy’s best dancer award in the year 2006.
Currently married and living in the US in Sacramento CA, Mathura runs a school for Classical
Dance “Kaladhaara” imparting training to local students through a holistic divine approach.

Bharatanatyam is thus what she breathes of. It is not a mere passion, but what she claims to be
of her life and soul. Mathura was initiated into the art at the tender age of 4, and quickly learnt
the ropes of this divine arm form from various gurus; people like Kalaimamani Smt.
Krishnakumari Narendran & Natanamamani Sri A.Lakshman have been the guiding lights
through her formative years in training. She is now under the tutelage of Sri A.Lakshman and
one of the prime disciples of Nrithyalakshana. Having learnt the art at its best, she is also fine-
tuning her skills of Abinaya from Padmavibushan Smt.Kalanidhi Narayan and
Nrithyachoodamani Smt. Priyadarsini Govind. She is also under the guidance of Bagavatulu Sri
Seetharama Sharma for her nattuvangam training.She is also trained in Kalaripayattu and an
avid practicioner of yoga to accentuate her dancing abilities.
She marked her debut in the year 1997 and there has been no looking back since then. Blessed
with consummate footwork and a pleasing stage presence, her exhilarating dance recitals have
captivated Sabhas across Chennai and all over TamilNadu. Personification and poise is what she

Mathura has choreographed and staged solo thematic dance projects on Saint Meera
(‘Giridhara Gopala’) and Sri Shakthi. She has performed widely in the US touring cities like
Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, L.A. and Sanfrancisco,
and various cities in the United Kingdom. She has performed solo performances widely in
various cities of California, Illinois, Ohio, New York and New Jersey.
Mathura’s prodigious talents for Bharatanatyam have earned her several accolades including:
Dharmavarapu Seetharama Anjaneyalu for the best all rounder in the year 2004, Balasaraswathi
prize for best performance in the year 2005 and Music Academy’s Spirit of youth best dancer
award in the year 2006. Several prominent critics have acclaimed her natural aptitude,

Holding Advanced degrees in Media studies and HR, Mathura aspires to blend her abilities in
the right proportion to carve a niche for herself, professionally, and artistically. Currently
married and living in the US in Sacramento CA, Mathura runs a school for Classical Dance
“Kaladhaara” imparting training to local students through a holistic divine approach.
The School:
She runs a nonprofit registered dance Academy “Kaladhaara” in Sacramento (US) to impart
quality Indian classical arts for the holistic development of children living abroad.She organizes
yearly workshops and annual performance to show case up and coming talents. She has given
many performances/ lecture demonstrations in various Universities of US. Having been a
teacher for over a decade now, she has conducted several debuts and pre-debut shows for her
students and organized several workshops and demonstrations of visiting artists from India who
add value to the learning of art form. Her recent production “Radhe Shyama” marking 5th
anniversary of her school received rave reviews from viewers and local art patrons.
