1. n the next 60 minutes, we will demonstrate that Lotus Knows why collaboration infrastructure decisions are critical to your organization's future and Lotus Knows how to deliver the most-complete collaboration solutions, now and into the future.
2. We have three things to talk about this afternoon. First we will do a brief review of 2009: Notes and Domino 8.51, Alloy, Traveler, Foundations, xPages, Protector, and the work of our partners. Second, we will discuss what is in store for 2010. You heard a bit about that this morning. Much of 2010 will build on the success of 2009. But Lotus Knows there will be some breakthroughs too. Third, we are going to talk about the future.

10. View by category was in Notes 6. was taken out in notes 7. do not know why. Now re-added – back by popular demand :)
11. To add categories to a calendar entry, follow these steps: Edit or create a calendar entry. Enter a category into the Category field. (If you do not see the Category field, click Display above the calendar entry, and then select Category .) For this feature to appear, you must replace the design of your mail file. Follow these steps: After you install Notes 8.5.2, open your mail file and select File > Application > Replace Design . (If you do not see this menu option, select View > Advanced menus .) Open the local notesdata directory, and select mail85.ntf. De-select "Inherit future design changes." This will prevent the Domino server from reverting the design back to an older version of the mail template. Click Replace . More about the Entries by Category view This new view displays a categorized list of calendar entries on your Calendar including Appointments, Meetings, Reminders, Anniversaries, All Day Events, Event Announcements and imported iCal entries. This allows the user to group their related entries into categories for quick access. The view does not include To Dos, Notices, or calendar entries federated from other Calendars or feeds. Any entries that are not Categorized will appear under the Not Categorized section.
12. A new widget configuration wizard is available for creating a widget using the active composite application as the current context. Prioir to Notes 8.5.2 – the Widget toolbar DID NOT work with a composite application. Now it does and (thanks to Bob Balfe, the dev who came up with this idea) we think that this new wizard makes it really easy to create widgets from comp. Apps because it detects the appropirate actions for the comp app that you launched the wizard from! Using this new wizard, users can either create a widget that simply opens the composite application in a new tab, or one that is wired to act on Live Text or selected text in a particular manner. The following sequence configures the widget such that a zip code from Live Text in a Notes document is sent to the "Filter View by Category" action in the composite application. 1. In Notes, open a composite application and click the "Configure a widget from the current context" toolbar option to open the "Create a new widget for this application" wizard. For example, open a composite application that contains the Notes Mail and Contacts views. 2. Use the wizard to specify a new widget name, for example ZipCodeContactFilter . 3. To wire the widget to act on Live Text or selected text in a particular way, click Wire as an action . Note : To create a widget that simply opens the composite application in a new tab, click Just configure a widget for now and Finish . 4. Enter a descriptive action name to appear in the Live Text hover menu, for example ZipCodeCollect . 5. Select the content type property for the action. For example, select Address and then select the address.zip child property. Note : You should be familiar with the composite application itself before attempting to wire a content property to an action. 6. Select one or more component actions to execute with Live Text or selected text. For example, select the All Contact > Filter View by Category action. Note : Only component actions that accept a string value as input are listed; other value types are not available. 7. Click Finish and the new widget appears in the My Widgets sidebar panel. From here you can double click on the widget in the My Widgets sidebar panel to open the application or you can execute the Live Text widget action that you have just created. You can also right-click the widget and choose Configure a new action to create more actions for the widget. Additionally, you can add the widget to the widgets catalog to share it with others, and so on.
13. Heard about IBM Project Vulcan during the keynote – it is a vision that provides a blueprint for how our products will evolve, including Notes/Domino. We are pursuing IBM Project Vulcan keeping four principles in mind: Continuity, Convergence, Innovation, and Opportunity. What does this mean for the evolution of Notes/Domino? Continuity – builds off of today's capabilities. By following the N/D upgrade path you will be on your way to achieving the vision. [Insert details around current capabilities like xPages apps that are taking us in the direction of Vulcan] Convergence – unifying the experience while making the enabling technology (UI, delivery model) matter less. Client experience that is unhooked from the servers and services that support it. Innovation – enabling people to work in new ways, applying elements like social analytics, helping people move out of the inbox and towards streams of information most relevant to their work. Opportunity – making possible the next generation of solutions by bringing a new focus to Web technologies such as public REST APIs, XPages for Domino applications, widgets and mashups, and HTML5 for richer user experience.
