How To Search For Credible
Websites
1. Accuracy - How reliable and error free is the information? Who is the
sponsoring institution (government, University, commercial
company)? How credible or well known is the sponsoring institution?
Does the information consist of documented facts or personal opinion?
2. Authority - Is the Author or source of the information identified
and his/her qualifications in evidence? Does the site exhibit proper
grammar, spelling, and literary composition?
3. Objectivity - What is the site’s purpose: to inform, explain, persuade or
sell? Is the information presented with a minimum of personal bias?
4. Currency - Is the content of the work up-to-date? Is the date of creation or
most recent revision date clearly shown?
5. Coverage - Is it a comprehensive coverage of the subject matter? Is the
information relevant or useful for your needs?

week to make sure everyone is on task and doing their
work properly.
Webquest
Directions: Visit the following websites to help you learn about the history of the American Revolution. These
sites will provide you with valuable information about the topic we will be covering. Please take your time to
carefully read through the chosen websites and answer all the questions that follow.
1.) Go to http://www.theamericanrevolution.org/hevents.asp and check out the important dates associated with the
beginnings of the American Revolution.
Question: What event took place hours before the Boston Tea Party occurred? What is the date of the event?
2.) Go to http://www.kidinfo.com/American_History/American_Revolution.html and scroll down to People Important
to the beginning of the Revolution. Pick your favorite person, click their name
.
Question: Choose a favorite person from the list provided. State their date of birth to the day they died, what their major
contribution to the American Revolution was, and at least two important facts of their life.
3.) Go to http://www.americanrevolution.com/BattleforNewYork.htm and read through the Battle for New York.
Question: How long did it take General Howe to arrive in White Plains?
4.) Go to http://poetry.eserver.org/paul-revere.html and read through the poem on that page.
Question: Why was Paul Reveres midnight ride so important to the beginning of the American Revolution?
5.) Go to http://www.ushistory.org/Declaration/signers/index.htm pick one of the signers of the Declaration of
Independence.
Question: Choose one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. List their date of birth, when they died, their
occupation(s), and two interesting facts about their life.
