Overview
Mark has a long history in industrial engineering projects focusing primarily on the
power and water industries. Following many years as a design engineer, project
engineer, estimator and project manager and lately with Veolia, a tenure of over 14
years in total, initially as Senior Estimator in the Tenders team. In April, 2009 Mark
became Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies’ Procurement Manager for the
Design & Build team a position he held till December 2011 before taking over as
Estimating Manager. He held this position until December 2014.

• 2012-2014 successful bid APLNG PTF project – sourced potential Thai and
Chinese fabricators, managed evaluations and coordinated estimates for two
offers to client – one for offshore fabrication and the other a premium for
Australian manufacture
• 2009 - 2012 - Initiated and managed company's entry into the China market, at a
time when this was a new approach to doing business. Negotiated the
successful approval of this strategy through Senior Management team, which
subsequent contract worth over $20m overall.
• Managed estimating for Bayswater Power Station Tender, worth over $60m,
through 18 months of bidding, re-bidding and eventually winning this high value
client.
Managed up to 3 Procurement Engineers, employing a mentoring approach to
ensure effective leverage of own expertise through the team and flow of
knowledge.

• Overall supervision of procurement team and
directly managed fabrication in China from the pre-
qualification, through placement of supply
agreements, manufacture and delivery for 3 ion
exchange trains – Cation/Anion/Mixed Bed – 9
carbon steel rubber lined pressure vessels in total
complete with internals. Directly managed also the
Chinese fabrication of all prefabricated
interconnecting pipe spools (carbon & stainless
steel) and delivery (15 off 40’ shipping containers)
to construction site. Significant logistical issues
were managed by the VWS procurement team.

• Procurement Manager – successfully completed
contract for coal seam gas water. Overall
supervision of the procurement team. Directly
managed the placement of supply agreements in
China and management of ongoing fabrication of
both multimedia filter vessels (9 off) and cation
exchange softener vessels (7 off) for 2 separate
Santos sites. Instigated the partnering of a new
Chinese fabricator, experienced in the local
Chinese market in RO, to manufacture RO skids to
international expectations along with appropriate
documentation. .

Manager through the design phase with contract
administration, budget set up and recruitment of
staff.
