2. MY EXAMPLE
Back in 2020 my aunt started to present some
symptoms like having trouble remembering words
or communicating, very drastic changes in
behavior, impaired judgement and at last,
weakness on her right side of the body. Noticing
this symptoms, the doctors in my family
immediately suggested tests and MRI, where we
found out she was growing a tumor, striking her
frontal lobe.

4. PARTS OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
ACTIVE IN MY EXAMPLE
Using the image presented on the slide before,
I identify the following as the parts active on
my example:
• Prefrontal Cortex
• Premotor/S.M.C (MAC)
5. FUNCTIONS OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM THAT ARE
APPARENT AND/OR IMPAIRED
As mentioned when I narrated my example, some of the areas impaired on my aunt due to
the growth on the tumor damaging the frontal lobe were:
• Trouble remembering o coordinating words for communication: she began forgetting
words as easy as spoon, towel, and some more objects that she did remember easily
before.
• Very drastic changes in behavior: she could’ve been very happy and with the slightest
disturb, she would get extremely mad or annoyed.
• Impaired judgement: she wasn’t able to make a point and explain or stick with it.
• Weakness on her right side of the body: she began to have difficulty and needed help
lifting her right leg when walking up stairs or standing up.
6. FINAL CONCLUSIONS ABOUT
THE COURSE
As a Special Educator and family of doctors with a brain tumor patient in the family,
this course helped me not only understand where some behaviors or reactions could
come from, but also areas of my student’s brain that may be damaged according to
their condition (Spina Bifida) and which areas to better help on, reinforce or strengthen.
In this course every example, every video and every class was extremely detailed and
simple to understand, making it a very useful tool for academic growth and
knowledge.
