This document proposes an IoT-based waste management system to address issues like overflowing dustbins. Sensors would detect fill levels and send alerts. Underground pipes and GPS-enabled trucks optimized for routes would help with waste collection. Real-time monitoring of bin levels and truck locations would improve efficiency. The system aims to save costs and fuel, avoid pollution, create jobs, and optimize waste collection for a cleaner environment.

Waste Management Using IOT
1. WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
USING IOT
Introduction:
In the present world, we see the dustbin is overloaded with waste. They are overflowing on
roads, streets. This overflow of dustbin is due to the increase in population which is causing
many diseases to the public.
Many companies and cities all around the world are facing the growing problem of waste
management. This major problem is costing us millions of dollars to collect, manage and
remove. To avoid this problem, we planned to design “The Waste Management IOT System”.
Why there is a need of IOT in waste management system?
To keep our country clean
Monitoring on garbage system
Status of garbage bins shows on internet and android app
The Public can complain if the delay in the waste collection through an app
Let’s highlight the Problems and lookfor a solution
Firstly, we will highlight the problems which we are facing.
Problems: -
The dustbin is either full or not present.
Tends to spill over and pollute surroundings.
Collection becomes inefficient.
Solution: -
With the help of sensor
Put sensor which will automatically provide a status of fill level and raise an alert. These
sensors include temperature, GPS, ultrasonic sensor.
With the help of an IR sensor, we can have millimeter accuracy to strengthen the truth
of the data.
A Printed circuit board (PCB) was made especially for our sensor. It brings everything
together and is maintain optimal power inputs and outputs.
With the help of underground pipes
The System to suck the wet garbage through underground pipes.
2. With the help of GPS enabled truck
Route optimized according to the pick-up points, traffic, fleet availability and road
condition.
Truck be sent to come to pick up waste material only when there is a need. Using
Tangles block-less distributed ledger.
Tiny WIFI module
It’s called the ESP8266 and it packs a punch. This Wi-Fi module sends our data to the
cloud.
With the help of mobile phone
Send pick up route information to truck drivers.
High capacity lithium battery
Such batteries make sure that our sensor is working for over two years’ time span
before a change is required.
With the help of Management
1. Access data stored on a cloud.
2. Access reports via web or mobile.
3. Predict the waste generation pattern.
4. Make an arrangement in advance to avoid unexpected waste accumulation.
With the help of recycling
There must be a proper recycling system for the waste products.
Three Main Feature
Following are the three main feature of our IOT application:
Sensing
Measure depth with an ultrasonic sensor. Geolocation for phones.
3. Real-time Monitoring
Use data to optimize collection track assets a cost analysis using mobile data. Know
which locations are filled, plan the best route to conserve gas and reduce carbon emissions
from the vehicle.
Our cloud monitoring and analytics platform allow our client to see their data in real-
time. This way, they can act in real-time.
Optimization
Impart to lead to the smartest routes to go based on traffic, trash bin etc.
THE PROCESS
Following will be the proper process to follow: -
1. Use sensors. Update in real-time.
2. Display data for collection.
3. Calculate for the best possible route.
4. Gather data for analytics.
BENEFITS
Following are some of the benefits of the application IOT in waste management: -
Saves fuel, time and effort.
Avoid pollution
Improved efficiency through real-time monitoring.
Create employment opportunities.
CONCLUSION
We can have a simple conclusion: “The key to a healthy and safe environment is in your hands”.
Our duty: We should start the process by ourselves. Always try to keep your
surroundings clean. Throw garbage in dustbins, collect all your wastes and rubbish in
a systematic way so it’ll be easier for you to remove it.
Government role: Government should organize some awareness programs in order
to improve the knowledge about the importance of Waste Management for sound
environmental development in the area. The organization should provide for the
inauguration of interrelated programs and policy development.
