5. INTERTEXT
- Intertextuality is the shaping of a text's meaning
by another text.
- It is the interconnection between similar or
related works of literature that reflect and
influence an audience's interpretation of the
text.
6. Example:
JK Rowling’s "Harry Potter Series" and JRR
Tolkien’s "Lord of the Rings Trilogy."
Both texts use wise wizards as the
protagonist’s mentor (Gandalf in LOTR and
Dumbledore in Harry Potter), this is an
example of intertextuality.
