This is Part 1/5 of a comprehensive, onboarding training course for new distributors and sales reps. I big part of my role as International Sales Director was training distributors. These presentations were available on demand via the Dropbox account I curated. These presentations also contained videos I edited via iMovie.
3. The VERSATILITY of the
Ellman RF energy source
& accessories give you the
capability to do
PRECISION surgery
4. • Fewer teeth in the saw
blade results in
splintered ends which is
appropriate for some
uses but not for finish
carpentry.
• For non-aesthetic
procedures, optimizing
the incisions is not as
important
• More teeth in the
saw blade results
in smooth ends
which is more
appropriate for
finish carpentry.
• For aesthetic
procedures, the
smoothest cuts are
essential
Ellman (4 Mhz) has about
10 times the cycles of
other ESUs (~400 khz)
Carpentry helps differentiate ESUs from RF
13. The Lateral Heat Formula
T = Time that electrode contacts tissue
P = Intensity of power
F = Frequency
Electrode type and selected waveform
also impact thermal build up
15. Finer electrodes are
for Cutting
Fatter electrodes are
for Coagulation
Electrode Type Affects Thermal Heat
The Vari-Tip Electrode
controls depth of
penetration with an
adjustable wire.
20. Bipolar Coagulation
! Radiowaves travel only
between the two tips of the
forceps. Antennae is not used
but it must be plugged into the
machine.
! Pin-point accuracy, micro-
coagulation in a wet field
! Ideal for coagulation in and
around critical anatomy
* For Surgitron Dual RF and S5 units, BIPOLAR waveform operates at 1.7 MHz.
This produces more lateral heat than 4.0MHz, due to increased coagulation

30. Ordering handpieces, accessories &
cables that plug into all machines
When ordering surgical handpieces, accessories, and cables that plug into our
IEC machines (Pelleve S5, Dual 120, Dual-EMC, and Acusect) you must put an
“IEC-” before the item code.
When ordering surgical handpieces, accessories, and cables that plug into our
EMC machine you do not put an “IEC-” before the item code. Devices that plug
into the EMC machine have a banana plug that we stopped using for our
machines due to IEC regulations.
Here are some examples:
DescripQon EMC Machine Code IEC Machine Code
Foot Controlled HP (2pcs) XHP1 IEC-XHP1
SucZon Coagulator (Reusable) H40 IEC-H40
Quick Connect Cable SP020 IEC-SP020
Neutral Plate H4 IEC-NPC
31. Neutral Plates
• Passive electrode draws the radio signal back to the radiosurgical unit.
• The closer the Antenna Plate is to the surgical site, the less power is required from the unit.
• Being consistent in where you place the neutral plate will help maintain more standard
energy settings.
• Reusable neutral plate does not have to make direct skin contact
• Sterile/Single-Use neutral plate requires direct skin contact. Please be careful in making
sure there are no wrinkles or small areas of the skin not touching the sticky pad.
• Sterile/single-use neutral plate should always be used for Pelleve and PelleFirm
procedures for stronger, more consistent energy flow, and reduced procedural time (skin
heats up faster). All of our protocols have been developed using IEC-NPD.
