Whether you are a Developer, QA or a IT Operations personnel, with organizations adapting devops practices you need to skill up with the latest and the greatest of the devops tools, relevant to you. And its not the same basket of tools that dev and ops both opt for. This talk is about the essential devops skills required to transform yourself to be a next gen devops professional. And this is based on real data, a devops skills report 2016 (to be published soon) by Initcron Systems.

DevOps is an emerging name for the collection of techniques we are adopting to meet this challenge and close the gap. While the DevOps movement is relatively young, many of its approaches are rooted in existing best practices. This presentation makes an argument for DevOps, and proposes a DevOps Infrastructure team to help implement tooling that brings Developers and Operations folks together. These slides are from a recorded webcast available here: http://www.urbancode.com/html/resources/webinars/DevOps_ITs_Automation_Revolution.html

1 year has passed since my Devops laboratory talk in Devopsdays Melbourne and we haven't stopped experimenting. After all the buzz and great conversations at Devops days I decided to extend the talk with a few more experiments on top of the previous presentation. This talk was first presented in Last.conf Melbourne on June 2016. The objective is no matter were your company is in terms of adopting a Devops culture/mindset there is always opportunities to try something new. The experiments covered include: E0. At the beginning, there was devs and ops E1. Placements E2. The tooling team (code name Gandalf) E3. Secondments E4. Ops as an attribute of Business areas E5. The era of Guilds E6. The raise of the Delivery Engineering teams E7. Sec + DevOps E8. Leverage vs Autonomy E9. Finance + DevOps E10. ????

Death to the DevOps Team! - how to avoid another silo Matthew Skelton, Skelton Thatcher Consulting Ltd. An increasing number of organisations - including many that follow Agile practices - have begun to adopt DevOps as a set of guidelines to help improve the speed and quality of software delivery. However, many of these organisations have created a new 'DevOps team' in order to tackle unfamiliar challenges such as infrastructure automation and automated deployments. Although a dedicated team for infrastructure-as-code can be a useful intermediate step towards greater Dev and Ops collaboration, a long-running 'DevOps team' risks becoming another silo, separating Dev and Ops on a potentially permanent basis. I will share my experiences of working with a variety of large organisations in different sectors (travel, gaming, leisure, finance, technology, and Government), helping them to adopt a DevOps approach whilst avoiding another team silo. We will see examples of activities, approaches, and ideas that have helped organisations to avoid a DevOps team silo, including: - DevOps Topologies: "Venn diagrams for great benefit DevOps strategy" - techniques for choosing tools (without fixating on features) - new flow exercises based on the Ball Point game - recruitment brainstorming - Empathy Snap, a new retrospective exercise well suited to DevOps This session will provide 'food for thought' when adopting and evolving DevOps within your own organisation.

DevOps is an increasingly useful tool for achieving business objectives, enabling your teams to work together to improve the efficiency and quality of software delivery. However, despite its growing popularity, there is still a lack of clarity over what DevOps actually means, how organizations should do it and what's the best way to get started. DevOps 101 takes a brief look at the history of DevOps, why it started, what problems it is intended to solve and how you can start implementing it. The slides were delivered by James Betteley, Head of Education at the DevOpsGuys in a one-hour webinar. The full recording is available here - https://youtu.be/4gC3WpbetKs?t=2s James has spent the last few years neck-deep in the world of DevOps transformation, helping a wide range of organizations optimize the way they collaborate to deliver better software, faster. (Talk given at Continuous Lifecycle London 2016) Continuous Delivery techniques and practices are often misunderstood. This session will explore some Continuous Delivery anti-patterns based on work 'in the wild' with a wide range of organisations across different industry sectors: - Believing that "Continuous Delivery is not for us" - Ignoring the database - Thinking that a deployment pipeline is just a series of chained jobs in Jenkins - Not funding the build/test/deployment capability properly - No effective logging or application metrics By avoiding these pitfalls, we can increase the effectiveness of our software delivery efforts.

Presented by Damon Edwards, co-founder of Rundeck, at JAX DevOps and Finance London, April 5, 2017. DevOps has provided plenty of lessons for how to speed up the pace of delivery and frequency of deployments. But, delivery and deployment only covers one part of the day-to-day life for developers in large enterprises. What about what happens after deployment? In most cases, increasing the pace of delivery and frequency of deployment just increases the operational support load, work interrupts, and context switching that has always cut deeply into a development team’s time. This talk focuses on the successful design patterns that high-performing, large scale organizations have applied to reduce the operational burden and support costs across their entire organization. Specifically, we’ll look at how they apply DevOps principles to improving the post-deployment lifecycle and how Developers play the key role in reducing the difficultly and cost of operations activity for everyone.

Keynote Presentation by Damon Edwards, co-founder of Rundeck, at DevOps Days Austin , May 4, 2017. Deployment is a solved problem. Sure there is still work to be done, but the DevOps community has successfully proven that anyone can both scale deployment automation and distribute the capability to execute deployments. Now, we have to turn our attention to the next critical constraint: What happens after deployment? We all know that failure is inevitable and is coming our way at any moment. How do we respond quickly and effectively to those failures? What works when there is just a small set of teams or an isolated system to manage will quickly break down when the organization grows in size and complexity. But on the other hand, what has been commonly practiced in large-scale enterprises is proving to be too cumbersome, too silo dependent, and simply too slow for today's business needs. How do we rapidly respond to incidents and recover complex interdependent systems while working within an equally complex and interdependent organization? How do Ops teams embrace the DevOps and Agile inspired demand for speed while maintaining quality and control? This talk examines the trial-and-error lessons learned by some forward-thinking enterprises who are currently streamlining how they: -Resolve incidents -Reduce friction between teams -Divide up operational responsibilities -Improve the quality of their ongoing operations (and organizational learning) See a Demo of Rundeck Enterprise : https://www.rundeck.com/see-demo --or-- Download Rundeck Open Source here: https://rundeck.com/open-source Connect: Stack Overflow community: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/rundeck Github: https://github.com/rundeck/rundeck/issues Twitter: https://twitter.com/Rundeck Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RundeckInc/ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com › company › rundeck-inc

De facto DevOps, de facto Agile. Today DevOps is the Manufacturing Revolution of Our Age. There is no escape for us. When got a DevOps, you got a DevOps. DevOps simply is the combination of cultural philosophies, practices, and tools that increase an organization’s ability to deliver applications and services at high velocity : evolving and improving products at a faster pace than organizations using traditional software development and infrastructure management processes.

ADR, or Architecture Decision Record, is a valuable tool in software development for several reasons. It provides a centralized location for documenting and tracking architectural decisions, aiding both current and future team members. ADRs enhance communication among team members by documenting the rationale behind architectural decisions, especially beneficial during onboarding of new team members or when revisiting decisions. They serve as a knowledge base, enabling teams to learn from past decisions and refine their decision-making process. Additionally, ADRs contribute to transparency by helping stakeholders understand the reasons behind specific architectural choices. As with any other tool or process, introducing them into an organization can face several obstacles, and overcoming these challenges is crucial for successful implementation. In this talk I go through some common problems and our way of solving them.

All women want one thing the most in life to be love and love in return – not much to ask. A lady wants a good man who loves you unconditionally and loyally. And you don’t think it’s asking too much to want to be with a loving, intelligent man with a good sense of humour and daring, an upright and confident man – who knows who he is. No one wants a chauvinistic and macho man, but you do want someone who will be willing to protect and care for you. Who loves you for you and not some kind of imaginary. You have no doubt that when the right guy appears on your doorstep, you’ll never let him go. But sometimes a man doesn’t realize he has that good woman.

Love Magic and Love Casters Love magic made its first appearance back in Ancient Egypt and has been an active practice since. This type of magic is a branch of traditional magic and can be practiced in various ways. Typically the more common use of love magic is through the work of spells, but other methods look like Charms Rituals-LOVE Potions-Dolls and even Amulets If you are interested in becoming a love caster, be prepared for what’s to come. A genuine love caster knows that the art of love casting is no easy feat and shouldn’t be done casually. You should know that not only does it require you to be gifted spiritually, but you must be ready to serve others. Someone who is considered a real love caster has experience in all manner of spells, no matter the difficulty. Training yourself in attraction, commitment, and marriage spells is an excellent place to start. But this by no means will make you a professional. Practice your craft and expand your knowledge; understand that you will possess the ability to help others in time truly. Types of Love Spells What better way to start broadening your experiences with love spells than by learning more about them? These spells work like just about any other spell. Simply apply your intention, use a medium (sigils, mantras, candles, or charm bags), and top it off with establishing the belief that you will receive what you want. So what kind of spells are available and which ones suit your needs the best? Let’s take a look at the many options you have at your disposal.

Modeling languages are generally applied for developing systems and software – both internally, with domain-specific languages, and with standardized languages targeting a general purpose and a wide audience. Way too often these languages are weakly created and defined leading to poor quality: Language definitions tend to contain errors and inconsistencies; notations do not recognize the communication and problem-solving needs of humans; standardization organizations push exchange formats that do not fully work and offer certificates that do not measure mastery of the language. We describe common problems in language development and point them out with examples from known cases. To overcome these problems, we suggest several solutions to improve language development, including using modeling languages specifically designed to define modeling languages, continuous testing and prototyping, and keeping language users in the loop.

So, what is Devops? The term was coined by Patrick Debois in 2009. He wanted to extend Agile principles into sys admin and ops. Enable collaboraTon between all teams involved in building, shipping and managing a feature Developers don’t just focus on funcTonality. Performance and Reliability are just as important. OperaTons don’t get involved only towards the end, but throughout the development lifecycle. Tools might help, especially for large deployment, but culture comes tops.

DevOps for ExecuTves It's a way to smooth the process of developing and releasing code – how to make it easier. Hiring DevOps engineers helps you streamline the process and make it easier for developers to work on the code they care about. It’s not a posiTon, it’s a collabora5on mindset between individuals that want clean, quality code development that works as it should. TIP, or Test in ProducTon is an agile property of quick consistent release. Also keep CAMS in mind: customer service, automaTon, measurement, and sharing.
