Necessity:
The applicability to generate power from
various means such as Rooftop and Ground
mounted on plain land is most prevailing at
present, implemented throughout the world,
proven and succeeded through sources of
Sunlight from photovoltaic panels as DC
current, installing an inverter is to convert
from DC to AC, making it usable for the
ultimate consumer, through supply from
ESCOMs.
The other renewable solutions appearing is
Wave or Tidal Energy generation from the
ocean’s waves, though preliminary or in the
conception stage, other countries have tried,
implemented successfully, and likely to be
done on the coastal areas of India.

On the existing Roof, depending up on the load bearing
capacity of the terrace or roof.
On the plain land/property with structures.

Funding available for above 500 KWp with proper PPA/tariff.
 Requirements:
PPA – e-tender, government issued with installation
certificate for 1 year for Rooftop.
PPA – Farmer’s/through tender

Financial Offer

 PPA to be obtained by the Owner/developer by paying charges to ESCOMs.
 Permissions/Approvals/evacuation to be taken by Owner/developer
 In whose name RR meter exists, PPA shall be issued, and PPA is not
transferrable, through ESCROW account amount is shared on ESCOMs payment
 Terrace should be free, there should be walk able space after installations on
terrace for owners – hypothecate/mortgage to Investor and ,for maintenance
as well.
 Net-metering procedures for Rooftop.
 Ground Mounted – PPA is through bidding from state(s).
 World-class Solar Photovoltaic Solar panel Brands are used for projects with
25 years performance guarantee on number of units produced.
 The agreements/MoU/Hypothecation/mortgage of terrace/land or property
shall be done in respect to the terms and conditions from the investors, to be
agreed and accepted by the Consumer/Developer.
 Any issue arising before / after installations have to be resolved by the PPA
Holders.

Finalizing a Contract
The Applicant may enter in to an Agreement with the system installer; for designing,
testing, supplying, installing, commissioning and to maintain for a period of 5 years
after following all the safety and quality of the equipment supplied as per relevant
standards.
The Applicant should see that the system installer shall guarantee a minimum solar
energy generation for a period of 5 years. The Applicant is advisable to select high
efficiency PV Modules as their rate of return is directly proportional to the number of
units generated per day. Please note this guarantee is not applicable for day to day
cleaning of PV Modules.
It is advisable for the Applicant to get a comprehensive Insurance Policy against
theft/damage/fire/cyclone/riot incidences and, also a third party liability insurance
against risk of mechanical/electrical accidents that may happen during installation of
Rooftop panels or during maintenance.
The Applicant should ensure a clear and complete scope from system installer in
assisting for preparation of drawings, procuring and testing Bi-directional meters, to
get approvals from ESCOM/C.E.I , contract for maintenance of inverters, PV Modules
etc…..

Accelerated Depreciation
Accelerated Depreciation of 80% is available under the Income Tax Act for
the Commercial and Industrial Rooftop Solar PV systems. This can
provide significant savings to a SRTPV power plant generator who is a
taxable assessee and has sufficient profits against which the
depreciation can be charges.
 Section 32 of the Indian Income Tax.
 Provides Accelerated Depreciation of 80% of the Invested capital in to
Solar PV Projects to Professional Companies with Tax liability.
 Investors can set off their Tax liability on the Taxable Income to the
tune of 80% in the 1st year, and subsequently 20% in the 2nd year.
Section 80-IA [Sub-Section 4] of the Income Tax Act, 1961 allows 100%
tax waiver on the income generated for any single 10 year period
during the first 15 years of operational life of a power generation
project.
