Essential Ingredients
Rice flour
Channa Dal
Cumin seeds
Asafoetida
Butter
Salt
Water
: 3 cups
: ¼ cup
: 1 teaspoon
: ½ teaspoon
: 2 tablespoons (preferably melted)
: ¾ teaspoon
: 2 – 3 cups

2. Oil
: As needed for deep-frying
Preparation
1. Take a vessel, add water (only 2 cups) and water and boil it.
2. Now add the all ingredients except butter and knead it firmly to make soft dough.
3. After 5 minutes, add the butter/ghee and thoroughly mix the dough again.
4. If the dough is not smooth enough, sprinkle some water from the remaining one cup
to make sure there are no cracks in the dough.
5. To make spiral shaped murukkus, you might need a murukku press. Or else you can
simply make round shaped murukkus with your hand.
6. Heat oil in a kadai (preferred for deep frying) or frying pan with high flame for 3
minutes.
7. Now, reduce the flame to medium and start frying murukkus.
