1. Lana Del Rey is an American singer/
songwriter from New York. Her real
name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant,
born June 21, 1985. She first came into
the spotlight after her music video for
“Video Games” became popular. He has
now released 4 albums; Born to die,
Paradise, Ultraviolence, and
Honeymoon.
She is known for her preoccupation
with ideas of love and melancholy,
which has allowed her to create a very
distinctive sound that she is easily
recognised by. From 2015 she has been
the most listened to female artist on
Spotify in the United States.
Lana Del Rey’s genre is really hard to define. She has had so many
influences that she can’t really be put into one category. She has been
described as “Hollywood sadcore” as many of her tracks have this sort
of glamourous depressed feel to them. Her music sounds very old
fashioned and classic but she has a lot of modern hip-hop and pop
influences as well so it’s nearly impossible to but her into one genre.
However as I am using a remix of her song “Summertime Sadness” I
would put the track into the electro/dance sort of genre. This music
usually has a target audience of young people around late teens and
early twenties. The kind of music is associated with going out and
having fun. It’s all about energy and good times and I’m hoping that my
music video can in some way emphasise the positivity and energy of
the song and genre in general.
