2. Secondlaw of motion The second law explains how the velocity of an object changes when it is subjected to an external force. The law defines a force to be equal to change in momentum (mass times velocity) per change in time. For an external applied force, the change in velocity depends on the mass of the object. A force will cause a change in velocity; and likewise, a change in velocity will generate a force.
3. SecondLaw Force equals mass times acceleration. The net force of an object is equal to the product of its mass and acceleration, or F=ma.
4. SecondLawExample How much force is needed to accelerate a 1400 kilogram car 2 meters per second/per second? -Write the formula F = m x a -Fill in given numbers and units F = 1400 kg x 2 meters per second/second -Solve for the unknown 2800 kg-meters/second/second or 2800 N
