What challenges might you be facing?
• I have to document infrastructure
records manually, this is very time
consuming.
• Even simple changes to my network
take a long time to plan and complete.
• Sometimes, planned changes cause
unplanned problems.
• It is sometimes hard to recover from
issues quickly.
• I am always Reacting to the unexpected.
• I have to audit my network several times
during a year, changes may not be done
during this time.
• There are a growing number of
networked devices on my infrastructure,
it is hard to keep track of them all.
• I find myself buying infrastructure
capacity as this is easier and faster than
checking what I have already.
• My team manages many remote sites,
this is a challenge to do effectively.
My Network is becoming very difficult to manage…

Notas do Editor The cabling plant is interconnected by using MPO connectors
These are the fibre PMDs (Physical Medium Dependent) for 40G/100G Ethernet.
Go through the slides.
SR: Short Reach
LR: Long Reach
ER: Extended Reach
Three other PMDs: 40GBASE-KR4 (for backplane technology) and 40GBASE-CR4 and 100GBASE-CR10 using expensive twinaxial cables (supported distance is 7.5 m).
A few weeks ago a company called Avago Technologies based in San Jose, California announced a new pluggable interface supporting 40 and 10G Ethernet.
They themselves proved a verified link distance of 300m for OM3 and 400m over OM4 fibre.
So this goes to show the standards are not going to be the limiting factor when it comes to transmission lengths and already we have vendors greatly exceeding them with marketable products and solutions.
PUE = Power Usage Effectiveness. Ratio of (Total Power Consumed) to (Power Consumed by IT Equipment). Industry typical: 1.8 to 2.9
CommScope’s highly innovative evaporative cooling and reheating system allows for deployment in low and high temperature and humidity environments without the need for supplementary cooling.
DX = Direct Expansion. Common technology used in commercial air conditioners using a refrigerant.
Location. Location. Location.
Locate a device connected to a faceplate/port, within a room/rack, connected to a switch.
