2. BEYOND FINTECH:
blockchain for every industry
Welcome to the most powerful technology you know too little about.
A panel discussion with:
Ann Greenberg, Founder & CEO, Sceneplay
Christopher Swanson, VP, Research and Development, U.S. Bank
Practitioner from a third industry, to be confirmed
Moderated by Lynne LaCascia, Global Head of Brand Narrative, Cognizant
Panel entry for SXSW 2017
3. You can learn everything foundational that you need to know about blockchain
for free, by reading on the internet and doing simple experiments. One question
can open a whole avenue. Exploring doesn’t cost anything but time. And there’s
unlimited downside risk to not doing something.”
“Blockchain can be the fundamental building block of collaboration tools for the 21st century,
in the entertainment industry and beyond.”
“Blockchain can do something the RIAA and MPAA never could: create digital scarcity.”
The value is not in the technology itself, but in what it does. Magic, sorcery, a centralized
database, U.S. Mail—I don’t care how information is exchanged as long as it’s better for
customers.
What would you do differently if you could teleport back to 1990, at the dawn of
Internet? That’s what time it is for blockchain.
4. If you haven’t been tracking blockchain because you thought it was
just for cryptocurrencies and fintech startups, it’s time to start.
It’s not just for storing assets, but for storing any kind of content in a
way that is shared, replicated and encrypted so it becomes a verified
and immutable source of truth. If that sounds revolutionary, it is, but
for most people and industries, distributed ledger tech is still
somewhere between “never-heard-of-it” and “haven’t-thought-much-
about-it.”
These panelists have, and they’re using it to bring speed and
transparency to commercial banking, turn scripts into 21st century
collaboration tools, and more. You’ll leave brain abuzz, understanding
the concepts well enough to do your own thought experiments about
what blockchain could mean for what interests you.
More to come.
