1. Wedding Story
Liz &Grant
We sat down with Liz Crawford
(sports anchor) and Grant Gilmore
(chief meteorologist) recently to talk
about how their lives have changed
by moving to Greensboro and work-
ing together at WFMY News 2.
Grant moved to Greensboro from a
station in Macon, Georgia (2009),
and Liz came from a station in Penn-
sylvania (2012). Off the air, she is
known as Liz Gilmore.
Q: Describe your first meeting with
each other at WFMY-TV.
Liz: We met on my first interview
at WFMY-TV in October 2011. He
was in the newsroom at the time, and
we made small talk.
Grant: I had broken my foot and
was getting around on a scooter!
For the next year, the two did not
have much interaction because of
nearly opposite schedules. When
they saw each other in the hall, they
experienced middle school angst
and “butterflies” that neither could
explain. The turning point was at a
co-worker’s farewell dinner in 2013.
They had the chance to talk and then
started dating. In April 2015, they
got engaged in New York City and
a year later — on April 16, 2016 —
they were married in Cape May, New
Jersey. Their honeymoon was in the
Maldives.
Q: When did you know he/she was
the one you wanted to marry?

Liz: We knew were on the same
track fairly soon, actually on a trip to
Maine in August 2013.
Grant: I knew soon — about 6
months after dating — that I wanted
to marry Liz.
Q: What was your work life like as
your relationship evolved?
Liz: We were not secretive, but we
were reluctant to talk about our pri-
vate lives as we were dating and then
engaged. Everyone let us steer our
own ship regarding privacy.
Grant: Everyone was great and al-
lowed us to lead the way during that
time.
Q: What is it like working with
your spouse at work?
Liz: We drive together to work —
he is the best carpool buddy! We are
fortunate that we are on the same
schedule (2 p.m. to midnight.) but
we don’t see each other much at
work. We are on opposite sides of the
building, working in our respective
areas of sports and weather for Grant.
Grant: Liz is gone a lot on location
so we see very little of each other at
work.
Q: What is one of your favor-
ite things to do when you are not
working?
Liz: We like to stay active, and we
are both runners. We try to run in a
few races each year. Grant ran a mara-
thon on his 30th birthday to check
off a bucket-list item.
Grant: We take day trips and try
to get outside as much as possible to
Hanging Rock, Greensboro parks,
and lakes to kayak.
The couple admits to occasional
role reversals at home. They both
laugh over the time when Liz was
having trouble getting a Philadelphia
Eagles score on her phone, while at
the same time Grant was cooking in
the kitchen and looking for basil.
