he usefulness of the tools & estrategies for planning and assessing learning: Kahoot, gradebook & Planbook, importance, advantages, tools available, site adress.
2. Strategic planning is the process of developing the strategy or direction and action plan
to achieve the goals of an organization.
Strategic-planning-tools
These planning tools can be used at each stage of the corporate strategic planning
process for gathering and interpreting required data and information. They may also be
used in structuring conversations involved in deliberating on the data, and generating
options to address issues surfaced. They also may used as aids in deciding strategies to
address the most important strategic issues likely to impact performance of the
organization as a whole.
However, a common and unhelpful misconception about corporate strategic planning is
that it is highly sophisticated and complex. And so it requires many correspondingly
sophisticated and advanced strategic planning tools.
3. The web program, Kahoot, is a game based response platform. This user friendly
website gives teachers the ability to create quizzes and surveys about any subject
area. Teachers can use ready made Kahoots that have been created by others.
Students then have the capability to answer questions through a variety of devices
and using colors and shapes to connect to the answer. The website even tracks
student achievement by looking at what the student did during the Kahoot, as well
as overall achievement while logged in.
Kahoot is very easy to use to create quizzes and surveys. The website takes you
step by step through the creation process. Both quizzes and surveys are created in
the same way. You first start by creating a title for your quiz or survey. Then, you
are brought to a new screen where you start creating your quiz/survey by typing
your first question. Next, you type in at least two answers (no more than four
answers) to your question and mark which answers are incorrect or correct by a
click of a button. You also have the ability to add images to your question by either
dragging the file into the workspace or chose the file from your device. If you do
not add an image, Kahoot will add one for you to make the Kahoot more engaging
for the students.
4. Many school districts now require teachers to enter their grades online in a program
that manages gradebooks. Although teachers keep their grades in an electronic format,
many school districts still require their teachers to maintain a paper gradebook, which is
generally considered the legal, accurate document in a court of law.
There are many benefits of using online gradebooks:
• Parents can see the grades online, which means (theoretically) that parents will not call teachers constantly
wanting to know his/her student's average.
• Teachers can write comments for parents to view.
• Accessible from any computer...on campus or off campus, so many find such programs extremely convenient.
• Parents usually view their student's grades and discipline activity online.
• In some programs, parents can update their contact information.
• Parents can view lesson plans to see what upcoming tests and assignments his/her student has due in the
coming days.
• Easily organizes grades for teachers to view, and some programs let teachers know if they have forgotten to
key in assignments or what "late assignments" are due.
• Such programs automatically compute averages.
• Grades are accurate as human error is no longer part of the equation, as long as teachers key in the correct
grades.
• Teachers can key in grades from home.
5. 1. Color code classes any way you want. Just because you skip the paper planner doesn't mean your plans can't
be cute! Mine is a rainbow!
2. Attach files and web links for easy access. This is especially helpful now that our school doesn't allow USB
drives or Dropbox! I attach everything I am using to my plans, even if I already have copies or I know it's on my
school computer because...
3. View & copy last year's plans. Talk about a time saver! Obviously, I'm not copying an entire year over
(although it's possible), but I do sometimes copy one unit that went really well. I love that I can use it to find
attachments easier than hunting through all of my various drives too!
4. Templates save precious planning time. Enter all of those things you do over and over once, and never do it
again! See my enrichment schedule at the bottom of the screenshot for an example.
5. Bump or Extend a lesson with 1 click. Planbook bumps all of your lessons forward or backward automatically
when you do this. There's even an option to lock a lesson so that it doesn't get affected by a bump (for an
assembly, etc.)
6. Share plans with teammates - My plans are shared with our SPED department so that they can easily see
what's going on in my class, and we can plan together. Nikki and I were teammates the past few years, and we
would often share our plans with each other. They are easy to import in when one of us had planned a special
unit.
