Career Highlights and Leadership:
2004 - Present - Assistant Principal, Lewisville ISD
• Elementary Summer School Principal, Summer of 2013 – Present
Responsible for coordinating and organizing summer school and testing administration for fifth grade
students who did not pass the STAAR Math and/or Reading assessments. Hired 15 highly qualified
teachers to engage students in reading & math instruction in preparation for the third administration of
STAAR. For the last 3 years, my campus has doubled the state percentage-passing rate of the third
administration of STAAR.
• Rotary Fest Neon Run 5K and Festival, October 2013 and 2015
Established connections with community members to obtain donations of several hundred water bottles
and granola bars for the participants of the 5K. The collaborative efforts of our Zone Leader, Mrs.
Godbey, members of the Rotary Club, and the West Zone administrators
resulted in a successful event that was enjoyed by stakeholders throughout the community.
2. • GRE Webmaster 2012-Present
Collaborated with Emily Anderson, 2nd Grade Teacher, to maintain the GRE website and keep it
current with up to date information to keep our families informed of current events and activities.
• LISD Discipline Task Force 2014-present
Worked cooperatively to develop the Elementary Discipline Matrix used across the district. Currently we
are researching alternative ways to approach discipline issues in an effort to lower disproportionate
representation. Our most recent professional learning opportunity was Restorative Discipline
Readiness Training for Administrators at ESC Region 11 on September 28th and 29th of 2014. Our
committee’s work has resulted in district-wide revision in procedures of documenting discipline offenses
and actions, effective in the 2015-16 school year.
• LISD Discipline Committee 2013-present
Acted in conjunction with the committee to create the LISD Bullying investigation form utilized across
the district. The creation of this form and accompanying resources has facilitated the ability of our
district administrators to establish consistency and ensure thorough investigations and documentation.
• Garden Ridge Elementary Gator Tribute, 2013-present
Created a Google Form used by faculty, parents, and students to recognize GRE staff members. This
addition to our staff recognition practices has created an online avenue for parents to express their
appreciation for teachers and staff at any time throughout the year.
• Facilitated 1st Grade West Zone Professional Development, Designing Vs. Planning
Lessons, Spring 2012
Collaborated with teachers to design engaging lessons based on Schlechty’s 10 Design Qualities,
which led to an increase in student choice and student ownership in profound learning.
• Led GRE iPad Professional Learning Communities, 2012-present
This committee evolved from our campus Technology Committee, which I established in 2007. These
committees focus on identifying effective ways to use technology in the classroom in order to increase
student engagement and promote student ownership of learning.
• Collaborated in organizing West Zone Fun Run, October 2012
Worked collaboratively with West Zone leadership and community to raise funds for student iPads.
• Member of State/Local Partnership Action Team, Fall 2011
Worked in cooperation with team members to develop the LISD Strategic Design. The Strategic
Design document has set into motion specific action steps and timelines as we transform our district
into a 21st
Century learning organization.
• Lifetime Member of PTA, November 2010
Continuous development of building and maintaining relationships with parents, students and faculty,
creating a culture based on trust and teamwork in order to promote a school environment conducive to
learning and student success.
3. • Leadership Academy Presenter, Summer 2010
Collaborated with administrators to illustrate how AWARE can be used as an effective tool to increase
student achievement (Leadership Academy-2010). AWARE has since become a primary tool used by
campus and district administrators to analyze student data.
• Campus Assessment and Curriculum Coordinator for 2nd
and 3rd
grades
Increased passing rate to 80% of all English Reading TAKS for 3rd
Grade, Spring 2007. This was more
than a 10% increase from the previous year.
• Assistant Coordinator to Saturday Math Club Program
Increased passing rate by 15% of students who were at risk to fail Math TAKS.
• Afternoon Clubs Coordinator
Collaborated with faculty and parents to develop and implement an extracurricular club program on
Wednesdays and started the Dance Club to enrich students’ cultural awareness at Central Elementary.
The program resulted in a high level of participation among students, parents, and staff.
