Bamboo towels & what you need to know
1. Bamboo Towels & What You Need to Know
What Are Bamboo Towels?
You’ve probably heard about bamboo towels. Maybe you’ve felt one at a store somewhere and
wondered about them.
What is a bamboo towel?
A bamboo towel is a type of towel made out of bamboo fibres. Modern bamboo clothing is
clothing made from either 100% bamboo yarn or a blend of bamboo and cotton yarn. The
bamboo yarn can also be blended with other textile fibres such as hemp or even spandex.
What are some benefits of bamboo towels?
Here’s a couple:
They’re eco-friendly – A bamboo stalk can grow 3-4 feet per day making bamboo a very
ecologically conscious choice. Not to mention that bamboo releases 35% more oxygen into the
air than other trees.
They’re really really soft – Bamboo fabrics are known for their softness.
They’re absorbent – Another property of the bamboo fabric is that they soak up a lot of water.
In fact, they’re known for absorbing up to 4 times as much water as regular cotton towels.
Unfortunately this means they’ll also take a little bit longer to dry.
2. They’re NATURALLY anti-microbial, anti-fungal & anti-static – This is not an added
property of the fabric. Bamboo fabric has been shown to kill 70% of bacteria even after 50
washes. WOW! This means if you leave your damp bamboo towel in a gym locker for a while it
won’t get that funky damp smell.
Yup. That’s bamboo for you. Isn’t it great?
I’m convinced. Where should I buy Bamboo Towels?
I don’t mean to toot my own horn here or anything, but we here at loombrand happen to sell
some really awesome bamboo towels. They’re handmade in Turkey and are a blend of Turkish
cotton and bamboo fibre. You can learn more about our bamboo towels here. (Opens in a new

How should I care for a bamboo towel?
You should wash your bamboo towels before first use. We recommend careful handling when
washing your new Bamboo towels. To prevent snagging of the loops and towel shrinkage
carefully follow these simple steps:
Place your towels in a washing bag prior to its first laundering.
Launder towels with lukewarm water on delicate wash with like colors (do not add
bleach) and thoroughly rinse.
Tumble dry no or low heat setting.
We do not recommend the use of fabric softeners as they tend to block the micro-gaps in
the fibers leading to reduced absorbency.
