1. BIOGRAPHY
J. Jewels, a Boston, Massachusetts-based
hip hop artist, actor, songwriter and producer,
has made a lasting imprint on the
independent hip-hop and reggae market and
does not plan on slowing down any time
soon.
Born Jimmy C. Jules, in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti,
Jewels was left behind after while his family
migrated to the US in the late 80’s as a result
of unforeseen difficulties in effort from his
parents to obtain a visa for their beloved
child’s transition to the states. During that
hard time, he lived with his grandmother until
his parents obtained his visa almost a year
and a half later.
Motivated by his family legacy and natural talents, Jewels employed his gifts working as a disc jockey, videographer and a show MC as
a young teenager. Shortly thereafter, having drawn from his entrepreneurial spirit, Jewels started a small music production company
before finishing his senior year of high school. The company gained quick leverage from Jewels’ production of catchy beats and
recording top local talent. In the late 90’s he met up and coming rapper, Rick Hill, and began producing him exclusively, sealing Jewels’
ability to professionally manage recording artists as an independent label. In 2006 he introduced JEI Company and has successfully
expanded from influence primarily in the New England region to an international reach via his new label, called JEI Music Group,
launched in 2015.
Jewels’ most recent undertaking comes as he’s emerged from production
to recording artist, in April 2016, with the release of the summer hit, “Itty
Bitty Bum Bum” featuring Ucmee and Tommy Knockout. The song is the
first title from his forthcoming album, J Jewels Presents. Jewels can also
be seen on the big screen this summer, in a minor cameo with the director
and writers of the blockbuster Central Intelligence, starring Kevin Hart
and The Rock.
J. Jewels has worked (doing promotions, marketing, production, talent
bookings) with Ne-Yo – the Gentleman, Serani, Fat Joe, Mighty
Mystic, Verse Simmonds, Mr. Vegas, Maino and many other ground-
breaking artists.
