2. Production…
This film is based on the novel called
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and is a thriller
which includes the actors :

Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy
and Mark Strong.
O The budget for the film was £20
million, or which the French owned
company StudioCanal funded.

3. Production…
O It was originally written by Peter Morgan but he
later dropped out after writing the draft. He was
then replaced by Peter Straughan and Bridget
O'Connor.
O The film was directed by Tomas Alfredson, this
was the first English language film that he has
directed, it has also has been produced by Tim
Bevan and Eric Fellner who own Working Title
Films.
O The film has a running time of 127 minutes and
was given a certificate 15.
O They released a featurette of the original film to
coincide with the recent film.

O The technology is used to give the film a
vintage look and to emphasise the time
in which the film was set (early 1970’s).
O They used anamorphic film which is 35
mm film averagely used in many films.
O The aspect ratio was 2.35:1.

5. Distribution…
O The film was released on 16th
September 2011 and it premiered
in London on 13th September with
many of its stars turning out on
the red carpet.

at the 68th Venice international
film festival on 5th September

7. Exhibition…
O It achieved £2,814,860 in the UK in its
opening weekend, and was screened on 382
screens.
O Topped British Box Office charts for 3
consecutive weeks.
O As of the 13th November Cinema revenues in
Britain brought in £13,734,483.
O It has be been nominated for 6 awards at the
British independent film awards.
O Universal plan to give the film a big release in
the USA on the 9th December 2011.
