38. 9. CONSULTATION
At the 3xx, 4xx, and graduate level courses it is recommended that you initiate
your use of databases in consultation with a librarian.
Plan ahead to allow time for the librarian to do preliminary searching in the
tools before your appointment.
Plan on spending 1 hour on the initial visit.
Track what you do; capture citations from the databases as you go; keep
binders of thesaurus terms, search histories, and relevant articles.
Schedule subsequent visits to get additional help in narrowing or broadening
your information search and formatting your paper and citations.
Ask for help throughout the process of information research, document delivery,
interlibrary loan, and formatting papers and citations.
