PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Amsted Rail Company - Brenco Manufacturing Process Engineer 07/2015 – 06/2016
o Manufacturing and assembly process engineer for the assembly line of tapered roller bearings used on trains.
o Responsibilities involved daily engineering support for two large assembly lines that were in production 24 hours a day.
o Managed a team of engineers, operations and maintenance through a 3 month FMEA analysis which yielded over 100 failure
modes, effects, causes, and action items that were previously unknown.
o Commanding knowledge of automated assembly components; pneumatics, hydraulics, material handling, conveyors,
guarding, controls, and integration of all systems on the line.
o Troubleshooting breakdowns gave me the opportunity to provide innovative fixes under very short deadlines.
o I redesigned critical tooling for grease delivery using Inventor for CAD and manufacturing Prints. The design went through
review and approval process and accepted as the current standard for use on the assembly line.
o My tooling design will eliminate 95% grease waste and increase the life of the tool by 300%
Powertrain Control Solutions Mechanical Design Engineer 12/2013 - 06/2015
o New product design and development for modification and conversion of stock drivelines and transmissions.
o Concept development and design using SolidWorks, SW simulation, and SolidCAM.
o Researched and implemented industry standard guidelines for metal casting and plastic injection molding design.
o Engineering process started from concept, followed by CAD design and drawing, and often machining a prototype.
o Reduced CNC milling operation time of first-run parts approximately 50% by changing the g-code editing process.
o Attained proficiency with 3-axis CNC milling and manual lathe operations.
o Advanced knowledge of cutting tools, tool selection, feed rates, depth of cut- axial and radial.
o Eliminated wasteful spending by implementing an inventory system for all machine tools.
o 50% reduction in yearly tool cost by only purchasing long-life cutting tools that are job specific.
Obsidian Engineering MechanicalEngineer 05/2013 - 09/2013
o Prototype design of a small Tesla disk turbine power generator.
o Determining the feasibility of combining the Tesla turbine with a Stirling engine.
o Researched alternative thermodynamic cycles such as the Ericsson and Rankin cycle for power generation.
o Built a prototype model for testing and validation.
o Produced CAD drawings and assembly for the prototype Tesla turbine
