2. Why a project about this topic?
• ICT use in schools is often “calculation tool”
and “drawing tool”
• Reasoning and creativity are not priority in
ICT use
• “I use ICT = I am a good teacher” w does
not inspire thinking about how to use ICT
3. Project DynaMAT – partners
• University of Pisa, Italy
• University of Vienna, Austria
• VIA University College, Århus, Denmark
• University of Nitra, Slovakia
• Academy of Science, Bulgaria
• University of Iceland
4. Project DynaMAT – objectives
To produce concrete examples, hints and good
practices on how to apply dynamical ICT, and in the
same time to develop effectively the dynamical
thinking, reasoning and creativity of their pupils. We
will tackle this situation with two approaches:
a. show how the use of ICT can develop the
visualization process,
b. show how to make visual reasoning an
acceptable practice in mathematics education in
combination with algebraic reasoning.
5. Project DynaMAT – outcomes
• E-book with materials
• Teaching units
• Practical applications of ICT
• Available for several levels of students, in several
languages
• Courses for teacher training
• Workshops for teachers
• Final conference
• Project website
• Dissemination activities
6. Project DynaMAT – examples
• Geometry in the field using GPS
• Mathematics in nature
• Dynamical billiards
• Euclidean Eggs
• Composition tools in arts and photography
• Fractals
• Simulation of Chi-Square distribution
• Car wheels
• Optical lens
• …
