A journalist by training, I spent the first four years of my professional career honing my writing, photography and video skills with a small daily newspaper in the Detroit suburbs. In 2009, I made the move to "the south,"​ as I then called anywhere south of Toledo, to Indianapolis for graduate school at IUPUI.
