1. MASTER OF SOCIAL SCIENCES IN GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT
The management of Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) wishes to inform interested private
candidates about the fresh intake of Master of Social Sciences in Gender and Development for
Academic Year 2012-2013.
The submission of application is scheduled from 02nd/ 07 until 30th/07/2012 during working
hours of the Center for Gender, Culture and Development or online registration at
www.kie.ac.rw.
The programme is intended to build Gender expert capacity and is a fee-paying evening/week-
end programme. A 3rd intake of 40 students is expected on 17/09/2012.
Criteria for Recruitment
The programme is open to interested candidates who have:
 A meritorious academic record with postgraduate qualifications or a minimum of an
upper 2nd class honors degree
 Lower second class degree with a minimum of 3 years working experiences in a related
field
 Computer literacy: Must have word processing skills, and capacity to use the internet is
essential
 Good command of the English language.

2.  A track record of contribution to/ understanding of gender issues and women’s
empowerment is an advantage
Admission tests in English and computer skills and an interview will be mandatory for
shortlisted applicants.
Condition of Admission
 Filling an application form available on KIE web site;
 Two notified copies of a diploma or certificates awarded at the end of Bachelor
programme or its equivalent, and any postgraduate qualification;
 Two photocopies of identity card;
 Two recent passport size photography;
 Proof of payment of 10,000 Frw for application fees to KIE account Nº

The programme is self-paying and will be for three semesters: two semesters of coursework and
one for a research-dissertation

3. 2. MASTER OF EDUCATION (M.Ed) IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
The management of Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) wishes to inform interested private
candidates that KIE offers a Master of Education (M.Ed) in Curriculum and Instruction for
the academic year 2012-2013.
The application for admission is scheduled from 02nd/ 07 till 30th/07/2012 during the working
hours in the Faculty of Education or on line registration at www.kie.ac.rw.
It is intended to build Curriculum and Instruction capacity and is a fee-paying evening/week-end
programme with a first intake of 50 students on 17/09/2012.
CRITERIA FOR RECRUITMENT
The programme is open to interested candidates who have:

 At least second call upper Bachelor Degree in Education or its equivalent or
 A second class lower Bachelor Degree in Education, with three years of experience or
 Any second class degree-with Post-graduate Diploma in Education
 Should be able to study in English

5. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (PGDE)
The management of Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) wishes to advertise a Postgraduate
Diploma in Education (PGDE) for the Academic Year 2012-2013. The programme will be
offered in the evenings and weekends starting from 17/09/2012.

B. CONDITIONS OF RECRUITMENT
TARGET GROUP/QUALIFICATION
 Second school teachers with a Bachelor Degree in any discipline
 Bachelor Degree holders with an interest in teaching
MODE OF APPLICATION
 Applications are open from 02nd July to 30th July 2012
 Copies of Degree certificate, transcript, identity card and application fee receipt must be
attached to the application letter.
Application should be addressed to the Dean Faculty of Education, KIE Po Box 5039 Kigali or
on line registration at www.kie.ac.rw.
The candidate must pay a non-refundable fee of 5,000Frw for application. The application fee

C. THE CANDIDATES
