2. Sustainability in Fashion-View from a
brand
Mr.Andy Rubin
• The words such as “sustainability”,
“green”, “eco”, “organic”, and “ethical” are
increasingly a part of the fashion
conversation.
3. ETHICAL FASHION: KEY ISSUES
• Fast Fashion
• Low wages
• Workers rights
• Culture and skills
• Sustainable livelihoods
• Pesticides and toxic chemicals
• Water
• Recycling, energy, landfill
• Trade rules and standard
4. Fast Fashion
• Many fashion garments have a short product life
cycle as trends change rapidly.
• The rapid production and turnover of goods
fuels the textile industry, but also puts pressure
on workers to produce goods as quickly as
possible, uses large quantities of material and
produces considerable amounts of waste.
5. ETHICAL BUSINESS POLICY
• Organic sourcing
• Use of sustainable and eco friendly materials
• Recycling
• Fair trade sourcing
6. The New Green Value of Manufacturing
Industries-DA AI Technology
Mr. Hua Der Huang
7. DAAI Technology
• 1990─ Master Cheng Yen stressed the need for a
practical, hands-on approach to environmental
protection.
• Tzu Chi volunteers responded by operating
waste separation, recycling and re-use centers as
well as adopting and promoting more
environmentally sound.
• sustainable lifestyle practices.
8. • 2006─ The Tzu Chi International Humanitarian
Aid Association (the “ TIHAA”) became
increasingly concerned about the environmental
effects of PET bottle accumulation.
• The volunteers successfully combined these
technologies into an integrated process capable of
transforming PET bottles into useful fabric.
9. DAAI Technology
• Since 2006,
the re-PET fabric was used
to make ECO blankets over
300,000 of which have since
been disseminated by the
TIHAA through out over 18
countries in support of their
humanitarian relief efforts.
10. DAAI Technology
• 2008─ The TIHAA volunteers collectively financed
the establishment of
DAAI TECHNOLOGY, CO., LTD.
• The caring of these environmental protectors and
their deep concern for our planet can be seen in the
outstanding quality of their yarn and fabrics.
11. 100% ECO Production
• 100% Recycled Fiber
• Good moisture absorbency & Quick Drying
• Elasticated
• Ultrasoft and Breathable
• ECO Production
• ECO Friendly & Protect our Planet’s natural
beauty and resources.
12. Regeneration of textile raw materials
DAAI Re-PET chips:
To recyclable PET bottles, after finishing
sorting, cleaning, go to labels, caps,
bottle rings, the crushed tablets and then
the system esters. In an effort to
environmental protection, are no longer
stained the steps for the latter.
ECO Fabrics
13. A New Creativity-Fashion’s Obligation
Mr. Jack Chen
• Eco Fashion is the new trend.
• As an increasing number of consumers become
interested in clothing and accessories made from
organic textiles in a sustainable and socially
conscious manner, eco-friendly – or “green” –
fashion is capturing the hearts of more and more
people around the world.
14. A New Creativity-Fashion’s Obligation
• In the future, in order to be considered high-
quality, the origin and sustainability of a piece of
clothing and/or accessories will have to meet
high ecological and ethical standards.
17. What’s S.Café®
• That is coffee grounds odor control ability might
be combined with fabric.
• They started to recycle the waste and tried to make
this imagination come true.
• S.Café® not only can control odor, but also have
the ability of UV protection and fast drying.
• But they are not satisfied with this. They are still
trying to connect coffee grounds with more related
products.
• Coffee in the fabric is just the beginning.
18. Where it comes from
• Since the team started to research the possibility
of adding coffee grounds into fiber, coffee
grounds were collected from stores which near
office or their colleagues’ house.
• Once the demand growth, they will collect these
waste from coffee factory, keep turning waste
into useful material to make people live better.
23. COCONA™ NATURAL TECHOLGY
• Coconuts to Cocona
▫ Evaporative Cooling
▫ Odor Control
▫ UV Protection

Activated carbon
Fabric fibers
24. Evaporative Cooling
• Activated carbon embedded
with yarns and fibrics rapidly
pull moisture away from the
skin and spread it across the
fabric surface to increase the
evaporation rate and speed up
dry time, which results in
greater comfort regardless of
the temperature.
25. Odor Control
• Odors emanated from the
wearer, inherent in the
fabric, and present in the
surrounding environment
are attracted to and trapped
within the pores of the
carbon.
26. UV Protection
• Activated carbon
embedded within the
yarn and provides a
shield between your
skin and damaging UV
radiation.
27. SINGCARE Recycle fabric
SINGTEX ® recycle polyester fabrics use PET
bottles and scrapped polyester textiles as raw
material to manufacture recycled fiber in order
to produce green product.
28.
29. SINGCARE ICE-COOL
• SINGTEX ® ICE-COOL fabrics
▫ have a quick dry function, and contain special
nano-crystal “cooling” particles which absorb body
heat slowly and dissipates this heat rapidly.
30. Future Research
• Fibres & Fabrics, raw materials with lower
impacts.
• Examine aesthetic of fashion done ethically.
