• 1. POV
 Ashots View shot is a
  Point Of
 simple shot of what the
 character (or object)
 sees. We as the
 audience get a glimpse
 of what the character is
 looking at. The POV shot
is a great tool to engage
 the audience to see from
 the character‟s eyes. As
 a group we envision the
use of the POV shot in
our opening, this is to does best, engage the audience. The use of the POV shot will help
 strengthen the genre do
allow the POV shot toas the shot will allow for genre signifiers such as tension, curiosity as
well as allowing for the start of an enigma code to begin.

• 2. Low/High angle
  shots
Low and high angle shots are used in order to
establish a sense of authority or in comparison to
belittle a character. Low angle shots such as the
one seen portraying the character of Peter Parker
are used in order portray the character as important
or powerful. In comparison, the high angle shot, such
as the one above portraying the character of James
Bond, the angle portrays the character as in danger
and less powerful.
I plan on using shots like these in order to establish
the characters power and authority. For example
the protagonist in our opening will be portrayed in
some shots with a low angle shot to establish his
 authority in our opening.
• 3. Enigma
  code
Enigma codes are effective as they are able to add
a sense mystery and ambiguity to the a opening.
 For
example a close up of an eye held for a couple of
Seconds, such as the one seen in the opening of
 Alfred
Hitchcock‟s „Vertigo‟, intrigues the audience as well
stirring up tension and curiosity. It allows the
 director to
almost have the audience where he wants them, he
 is
the able to control what they feel when watching
• Birds/worms eye view
  shots
Birds eye view shots are effective within an opening
as they can work as an establishing shot. They are helpful
in providing a starting point for a film opening, such as in
the opening of Romeo and Juliet as Baz Luhrmann
establishes the city of Verona he is able to control what the
 audience feel.
Worms eye view shots are equally as effective as they are
able to capture, for example, a different perspective of
action scenes. To the right you can see an image of a car
as it goes past, this adds diversity and difference within the
Shots as it‟s not the same shot of the car each time. Again, it
is able to add a different perspective to something enabling
the shot to add curiosity and enigma.
Both these types of shots influence me to find a way to
incorporate them into my film opening, I think that they would
both add diversity and change to the film opening as they
 are not commonly used shots.
• Contrapuntal
  sound
Influence for the use of contrapuntal sound came from Stanley Kubrick‟s „The
shining‟. The effectiveness of contrapuntal sound in an opening is clearly seen
throughout the opening of „The Shining‟ as it creates a disequilibrium right at the
start of the film. This gives the sense of not knowing what to except throughout
the rest of the movie. Therefore using contrapuntal sound in my opening would
seem as beneficial as it perpetuates the genre of out film. drones played in
