Weighing 1280gms, the Phantom 3 4K relies on
Wi-Fi and not the Lightbridge video downlink
system. The Phantom 3 4K will cost $999.
The drone packs in Intel's RealSense technology
which means that it will be able to avoid collisions.
The Typhoon H also has a 4K CGO3+ camera and
is able to capture 12MP images thanks to the 360-
degree gimbal camera. The Typhoon H will be
released in H1 2016 and be priced at $1,799.

Black Edition, an optional
RC-like remote control
enables an extended Wi-
Fi range up to 6 561 feet*!
For an extreme experience,
the Skycontroller connects via HDMI with the
latest generations of FPV glasses (First Personal
View). Acting as a co-pilot, a user can enjoy an
immersive view of the flight and see live telemetry
information, as if he were seated in the Bebop 2.

The Disco can also be used to orbit a point of interest on the ground in “Loiter” mode, and can fly for
around 45 minutes at a top speed of 50 mph, which is rather remarkable. You can set up waypoints
for the Flight Plan mode, and the drone can return home with the help of GPS.
Obviously the drone has a camera, which records full HD video, takes 14-megapixel stills and offers
access to a first-person flying mode that lets you see exactly what the drone sees from up in the sky.
You’ll need special glasses to enjoy that type of VR experience, however.

Crazy cool/connected cars
Page  25
Faraday Future, the mysterious Chinese-backed
electric car company, took the lid off its concept design
at CES. The 1,000-horsepower FFZero1 incorporates
a smartphone into the steering wheel and has an
internet-connected dashboard.
Toyota's FCV Plus is a prototype that speaks to
the company's belief in a future with hydrogen-
powered cars.
Mercedes-Benz showed
off its brand new Touch
Pad steering wheel
mounted sensors that
allow the driver to
effortlessly toggle through
menu options for two HD
screens.
Tech or no-tech,
the Ford GT - the
official car of the
2016 CES show -
managed to draw a
crowd.
Page  26
The dashboard of the future
Denso's dashboard of the future is quite
something. Imagine sitting in front of this
high-tech curved screen and the car adapting
the display to you. For example, glance at the
entertainment controls and they pop up. You
can make selections with controllers built into
the steering wheel so you never take your
hands off the wheel. It also includes live
feeds from rear-facing cameras.
Smaller, better eyes for self-driving
cars
For a self-driving car to navigate it needs
to be able to see and that's done with a
laser-scanning LIDAR (light detection
and ranging) unit. At CES, Velodyne
introduced its third-generation sensor (in
the front) that's small enough to be built
into the wing mirrors of a car. This
should mean an end to those spinning
sensors that cover the top of prototype
autonomous cars today.
Toyota's self-driving car
The Mobility Teammate Concept might
have a clunky name but it's packed with
technology that represents the future of
Toyota's autonomous driving research.
The company just committed US$1
billion to artificial intelligence and
accessibility research and in doing
made a serious bet on the direction of
mobility. At CES it also announced it
had hired away Google's Robotics
chief to its new lab.
Page  27
A supercomputer for your car
Nvidia's Drive PX2 is a powerful two-chip
computer intended to sit at the heart of a
self-driving car. The unit can process live
feeds from video cameras and laser imaging
so they can be processed by autonomous
driving software. It's Nvidia's big push into
automotive electronics and Volvo has already
announced plans to use it.
The latest in infotainment tech
The entertainment system in Volkswagen's
e-Golf Touch is built around a 9.2-inch
touchscreen and comes with natural-feeling
voice interactions and gesture control. It's
also compatible with MirrorLink, Android
Auto and Apple CarPlay. The "Keyword
Activation" voice recognition allows drivers to
control the system by saying “Hello
Volkswagen” so no button pushing is
required.
Audi's dream of the future
Audi's E-Tron Quattro is a fully electric
sport utility vehicle concept that can drive
itself through traffic jams and find parking
spots. It has a futuristic dashboard that is
full of curved AMOLED screens that
replace the buttons and knobs in most
cars. The car has movable panels that
shift to make the vehicle more
aerodynamic and Audi says it can learn
driving patterns from its owner, but it is
just a concept. Don't expect it soon.
Page  28
Ford announced a partnership with Amazon that connects
Ford's Sync Connect with Amazon Echo, so users can tell
Alexa to, among other things, start their car. From within the
car, drivers can talk to Alexa and control their home as if
they were standing right there in the kitchen making dinner.
Volvo has teamed up with Microsoft to add an
innovative new feature to its Volvo on-Call application
that lets owners talk to their cars.

better half of virtual reality.
Kodak's 4K action cam shoots
VR-ready videos (in a pair) - a
single camera costs $499,
while the double-pack is priced
at $899. Compared to Google
and GoPro's $15,000 Jump rig,
it's certainly a more wallet-
friendly option for early VR
content creators.
In an effort to be accepted
on the VR bandwagon, HP is
collaborating with HTC to ensure
its Envy Phoenix PC is properly
optimized for the HTC and
SteamVR-powered Vive
headset.

company OMSignal, contains biometric
trackers within absorbent, breathable
fabric to support and protect a woman's
breasts during exercise. The sensors track
the distance travelled, the effort exerted
and cumulative fatigue over 14 days of
exercise to help you better understand
your body and fitness regime.
The Oura, a wearable ring, is designed
to track sleep much better than the
fitness bands and watches we have
today. It adapts to what you do during
the day and measures sleep quality to
provide advice on how to rest better.

The Nikon KeyMission360 is a tiny video camera that can shoot
stunning 4K video in 360 degrees. That’s certainly something
unique from action cameras, and all the more impressive for Nikon
which had stayed away from this product category until now.
Kodak has just refreshed its Pixpro action camera by launching a
newer version called the SP360 4K, the obvious addition being
4K video support. This little cube is capable of near-360 video
when used solo or you can pair it together and have full 360-
degree video. The camera starts at $449 for a single unit or you
can get a set for $899, which also includes a mount for shooting
in 360-degrees.

Multi-room speakers & soundbars
Page  47
Samsung’s new HW-K950 Soundbar is the
company’s first to feature Dolby Atmos®
technology, and the industry’s first soundbar
package to include two Dolby Atmos®-
enabled wireless rear speakers. The
complete HW-K950 package delivers
incredible 5.1.4-channel sound. At just 2.1”
high, the HW-K950’s slim and sleek design
uses three forward-facing and two upwards-
facing speakers to produce a rich, full sound
that is big enough to fill the room, yet
detailed enough to deliver realistic,
cinematic sounds, from an arrow shooting
across the room to a hummingbird flying
overhead. The Soundbar also connects
wirelessly to the subwoofer and rear
speaker units, for a practical and seamless
solution in any living room. This also means
that ceiling-fitted speakers are not required
for moving, 3D audio.
Page  48
LG NP8350
LG has plans for three new sounders, the SH8, SH7
and SH6. Like the previous round of Music Flow
speakers, the new sound bars sport Bluetooth ,
Google Cast, and Auto Music Play capabilities,
along with a one-button setup to make connections
easy. What's new with these three sound bars,
however, is the addition of LG's Adaptive Sound
Control (ASC) feature. LG says that ASC allows the
speakers to automatically switch up sound settings to
suit different media as necessary.

Page  49
Bang and Olufsen's BeoSound 35 is an 'all-in-one' soundbar - support for streaming services
like Spotify and Deezer is integrated into the unit, it also supports Google Cast, AirPlay and
Bluetooth connectivity. The BeoSound 35 carries a steep price, as it'll set you back $2,785
(€2,295/£1,745) when it arrives in April.
Page  50
Page  51
Sony is bringing that same hi-fi audio playback
down to its Bluetooth speakers named h.ear.go,
which the company is touting as the smallest
speaker ever with hi-fi audio playback
capabilities. The speaker will come in a number
of different colors, and Sony says it will last 12
hours on a single charge. It also features one-
touch NFC connectivity, and users will be able to
combine multiple h.ear.go speakers to create
surround sound using the SongPal app after a
software update this summer.
Page  52
Ranging from compact up to larger sizes, the izzy speakers can be used to all play the same thing or split
off for individual use. The izzy BM50 can play CDs and broadcast radio in addition to streaming Bluetooth
audio from your mobile device. It has integrated speakers as well, so it can serve as the hub, if you will.
And yes, you can beam CD audio and radio (and USB files) to all of the other izzy speakers in your setup.
Philips isn't talking pricing just yet, but the izzy series is expected to arrive in May.
Page  53
The units have detachable speakers that can be used as either a stereo setup or separately for 5.1 surround sound "on demand."
The top section of the E6's two front speakers can be removed and placed elsewhere, should the need arise. In addition to those,
there's a wireless subwoofer to handle the low-end tones. To further improve sound quality, the Fidelio E6 offers spatial
calibration tech for a more immersive audio experience and balanced sound. The system features HDMI and Blueooth
connectivity as well support for Google Cast and Spotify Connect. Perhaps best of all, it's available now.
Page  54
The Fidelio Compact Soundbar is just what the name
suggests: a slimmer audio gadget that takes up a lot less
room than normal TV-friendly speakers. Despite its reduced
space requirements, the soundbar still boats 320W of total
power to play tunes from HDMI and Bluetooth AptX
connections. There's a slim sub for accompany the
soundbar as well, to ensure well-round audio. No word on
pricing or availability just yet.
For high-quality sound, Philips announced the Fidelio
Soundbar with Dolby Atmos. The company says it packs
5.1 surround sound-like audio into this speaker and its
companion sub. How? Well, the soundbar's 18 speakers
have two modules that send audio upward so that what
you hear comes from overhead. Pair that configuration
with Philips' Ambisound tech and you're left with what the
company calls a "3D sound experience." This duo has
400W of power and both HDMI and Bluetooth AptX
connections. The sub has 220W itself and beams low-
end tones 360 degrees to fill a room with sound.
Page  55
The Omni+ has picked up Google Cast support this year, to go along with streaming services including Spotify,
Deezer, and Tidal. Harmon Kardon is among a number of growing competitors from the likes of Samsung and LG,
and while the Omni+ hardware seems pretty decent, no one has been able to match the ease of use and number
of streaming services available with Sonos just yet.
The new line of Omni+ speakers will be available starting at $199 for the Omni 10+, $299 for the Omni 20+, $499 for
the Omni 50+, and a staggering $999 for the OmniBar+, which even exceeds Sonos' drastically high price for a
soundbar. Harman Kardon says the updated line of speakers will hit stores this summer.
Harman Kardon has just announced an
update to its Omni line of wireless speakers,
the Omni+. Designed to compete with
Sonos for the home audio market, has
added a new speaker to its offerings with the
Omni 50+ which is waterproof and can work
outside in the elements. The company has
also improved its high fidelity music
streaming capabilities across the line of
speakers, bumping the sample rate from 24-
bit/96KHz to 24-bit/192KHz, which should
please your favorite audiophile.
Page  56
The Reference Premiere HD Wireless speakers use the
company's Reference Premiere acoustic platform along with an HD
Control Center for lossless, wireless audio transmission using WiSA
technology. The series includes tower speakers RP-440W ($999 each),
monitor speakers RP-140WM ($999 pair), a center channel speaker RP-
440WC ($499 each), and a subwoofer RP-110WSW ($799 each) that
are all modeled after the company's Reference Premiere series. In
addition, the HD Control Center ($499 each) smart distribution hub
"processes multi-channel inputs and distributes them wirelessly with
transmission of up to 24 bit/96kHz." The Reference Premiere HD
Wireless speakers will be available in March at Magnolia Home Theater
and Magnolia Design Center stores.
The company also announced five new
soundbar models with HDMI and a Reference
Premiere theater bar. Likewise, select models
will use Play-Fi wireless technology for multi-
room and wireless streaming audio.
Page  57
Naim Mu-so Qb
Naim announced a smaller, cube-shaped version of its
popular and critically acclaimed Naim Mu-so speaker at
CES 2016. Despite being smaller in size however, the
Naim Mu-so Qb doesn't compromise on performance
with 300W of power from its five drivers on offer.
You'll find microfibre dome tweeters, copper-capped
mid-range drivers and two bass radiators that work with
the 100W-amplifier-driven custom woofer. As less of the
premium metal and materials are used compared to the
original, the Naim Mu-so Qb will be cheaper at £595.

The brilliant piece of equipment here is the Core, which is a Thunderbolt 3 dock that can fit a full-size dual-slot PCI
Express graphics card. The dock powers the Blade Stealth laptop over USB-C and has four additional USB 3.0 ports as
well as an Ethernet port. The Core has a 500W power supply and can house high-end dual-GPUs that can consume up
to 375W of power, Ars Technica explains. Obviously, you’ll be able to upgrade your graphics card as often as you’d like.

The ultrabook is 0.52 inches thick and weighs 2.75 pounds. One feature that also stands out is the backlit keyboard that
has user-customizable RGB LEDs so that you can personalize the colors of your keys.
The cheapest Blade Stealth will cost $999 in January when it launches, and will pack a 128GB SSD in addition to that 2K
display. The 4K model has 512GB of storage and costs $1,599.

Origin’s new all-in-one gaming PC
Dubbed the "Omni," the machine packs quite a bit of customization for its class. The company's calling it the
"world's most powerful and customizable" device of its kind, saying that there's room for up to an Intel Core i7
5960X processor and a 12GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan X under its 34-inch Ultra-wide 3K display (3440 x 1440
resolution).
This PC supports as much as 32GB of DDR4 RAM. Origin's stuffed its liquid cooling system into the machine as

You can set up waypoints for the Flight Plan mode, and the drone can return home with the help of GPS. Obviously the drone has a camera, which records full HD video, takes 14-megapixel stills and offers access to a first-person flying mode that lets you see exactly what the drone sees from up in the sky. You’ll need special glasses to enjoy that type of VR experience, however.

  • 24. Page  24 Crazy cool/connected cars
  • 25. Page  25 Faraday Future, the mysterious Chinese-backed electric car company, took the lid off its concept design at CES. The 1,000-horsepower FFZero1 incorporates a smartphone into the steering wheel and has an internet-connected dashboard. Toyota's FCV Plus is a prototype that speaks to the company's belief in a future with hydrogen- powered cars. Mercedes-Benz showed off its brand new Touch Pad steering wheel mounted sensors that allow the driver to effortlessly toggle through menu options for two HD screens. Tech or no-tech, the Ford GT - the official car of the 2016 CES show - managed to draw a crowd.
  • 26. Page  26 The dashboard of the future Denso's dashboard of the future is quite something. Imagine sitting in front of this high-tech curved screen and the car adapting the display to you. For example, glance at the entertainment controls and they pop up. You can make selections with controllers built into the steering wheel so you never take your hands off the wheel. It also includes live feeds from rear-facing cameras. Smaller, better eyes for self-driving cars For a self-driving car to navigate it needs to be able to see and that's done with a laser-scanning LIDAR (light detection and ranging) unit. At CES, Velodyne introduced its third-generation sensor (in the front) that's small enough to be built into the wing mirrors of a car. This should mean an end to those spinning sensors that cover the top of prototype autonomous cars today. Toyota's self-driving car The Mobility Teammate Concept might have a clunky name but it's packed with technology that represents the future of Toyota's autonomous driving research. The company just committed US$1 billion to artificial intelligence and accessibility research and in doing made a serious bet on the direction of mobility. At CES it also announced it had hired away Google's Robotics chief to its new lab.
  • 27. Page  27 A supercomputer for your car Nvidia's Drive PX2 is a powerful two-chip computer intended to sit at the heart of a self-driving car.
