1. To Whom It May Concern
This is a letter of recommendation for Kelly Timmer.
I have known Kelly for three and a half years now. She had four Mathematics classes
from me during 2011 and 2012: Multivariate Calculus and Discrete Mathematics during
Spring 2011, Statistics during Fall 2011, and Theory of Numbers during Fall 2012.
Based on her work in my classes, I would rank her in the top five percent of all college
undergraduates I have taught in the last twelve years.
Kelly is highly intelligent, and also extremely hardworking and conscientious. She
always came to class fully prepared, no matter how challenging the assignment was. She
sets herself goals that consistently exceed expectations, and she works to attain her goals.
That said, her most remarkable feature is her ability to quickly discern what parts of the
problem at hand are most relevant, which makes her an effective and efficient problem
solver.
My classes always include a significant component of group work, so I have had
ample opportunity to observe Kelly work in a team with her peers. I can attest that she is
always a valuable (and highly valued) member of the team, that she has the ability to take
a leadership role, and that she is genuinely effective when she takes a leadership role.
She has great interpersonal skills, and she is great at both oral and written
communication.
Kelly was always completely successful in my classes, and I am confident that she
will continue to be completely successful in anything she undertakes. I wish her all the
best for her career, and she has my highest recommendation.
Please do consider her to be a singularly strong candidate.
Yours sincerely,
Yashowanto N. Ghosh
