She was in the class
of 1950 at Dudley High

her life she was a great
leader in the community.
She was involved in vari-
ous civic and grass root
organizations such as:

1970’s member of the
Greensboro Assoc. of
Poor People; 1992- She
was honored by the
Greensboro Commission
on the Status of Women
as one of Women of
Achievement in Greens-
boro, NC and volun-
teered in a host of other
community activities.
She was employed
with Greensboro Urban
Ministry from 1987 until
her retirement in 2004.

Cornie Brown Ray.
Maie worked for many
years in the laundry ser-
vices in Greensboro with
Columbia, Fordham’s
and the Baby Diaper Ser-
vice. She was an active
member of Church Street
Baptist Church until her
health began to decline.
Maie was married to
Carey Elmore Suits who
preceded her in death
in 1967. She was also
preceded in death by
her parents; a grandson,
Charles William Caudle;
two sisters, Mozelle R.
Self, Mildred R. Fields
and her brothers, Reid,
Barney and Jay Van
Ray.
Surviving are two
daughters, Mrs. Linda S.
Caudle (David, deceased)
of Greensboro, Mrs.

The Dirty Girl Mud Run will
make its first stop in Greensboro
this year.
The run, which is less of a run
and more of an obstacle course, is
May 30 at Kersey Valley. The ob-
stacles include inflatables, ropes,
trusses and cargo netting.
This obstacle course is for
women of all ages, shapes, sizes
and athletic abilities.
Each participant decides which
challenges to participate in, and
“every female will finish,” organiz-
ers say.
Now in its fifth year, the run will
take place in 15 cities this year.
Justine Spence, spokeswoman for
the race organizer, said women run
for all kinds of reasons, including
conquering a goal, weight loss and
supporting cancer research.
Bright Pink is the run’s national
charity partner. Bright Pink sup-
ports protection from and detection
of breast and ovarian cancer, along
with education and support groups.
“Dirty Girl Mud Runs offer
Bright Pink a unique opportunity
to raise critical funds in support
of our life-saving mission and to
reach the thousands of participants
and their networks with breast and
ovarian health education,” said
Bright Pink Founder and CEO,
Lindsay Avner.
During the event, students from
the local Paul Mitchell studio will
braid hair to raise money for Bright
Pink.

Month. The month salutes the
value that foster parents, child

unteers have for the nearly
400,000 children and youth
