• 2009 HITECH Program authorized payments to Physicians

• Encourage the use of approved EMR (CMS)

   • Goal is to reduce healthcare expenditures

• Providers qualify under 2 programs:

   • Medicare- $44,000 per provider over 5 years

   • Medicaid- $64,000 per provider over 6 years

• Implement by 2012 for full benefit (2016 Penalties will apply)

• How to Qualify

   • Register and obtain CMS EHR Cert ID

   • Must attest for 90 days in first year
