Footwear Industry: A Growing Industry
India is all set to be a part of one of
the biggest retail revolution, with
footwear industry especially on the
verge of witnessing a phenomenal
growth in future. According to a
recent Report, “Indian Footwear
Market Forecast to 2012” the
demand for footwear will continue to
grow. This growth will only be
because of a lower demand for
footwear in Europe and other parts
of the world.
Growing at a compound annual
growth rate (CAGR) of about 15
percent, the Indian footwear
industry is likely to reach
approximately Rs 38,700 crore by
2015, according to a study titled
‘Indian Footwear Industry: An
Analysis’ released by The
Associated Chambers of Commerce
and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).
Supreme is closely associated with
the footwear industry in India by
developing several specialty
products. With a wide range of
crosslinked foams, Supreme offers
an array of products & solutions
that provide cushioning, comfort
& protection to the foot.
PROTEClitecell / PROTECxlc
(crosslinked PE / EVA foam) is one
such specialty product that offers an
alternative to imported foams that
save costly foreign exchange. The
recent introduction to this range is
‘PROTECcapcell-epdm’ (EPDM
blended block foam) that offers
almost zero hardness & resistance
yet provides excellent comfort &
cushioning. Supreme prides itself in
being a provider of such
cost-effective solutions.
Did you know?
Use of PROTECprofiles (edge protectors) or PROTECrods result into 30-40%
increase in compression strength against the same thickness of fabricated cushioning.

Problem Identified: Application of
adhesive on the site itself, thus
consuming time and aggravating the
mess.
Solution by Supreme: Supplied
peel-off paper fixed with pressure
sensitive adhesive on
‘PROTECarmour’ (expanded
polyethylene foam - EPE / PE) /
‘PROTECcapcell’ (crosslinked
polyethylene foam - XLPE) /
‘PROTEClitecell’ - (XLPE
thermoformable foam packaging
material) pads. Being adhesive
backed; these pads can be stuck
directly on desired surface, after
removing the peel-off paper for ease
of application. It also reduces the job
time and avoids the mess.
Benefit: More than 90% time saving
and 95% reduction in rejections.

Resin Bonded Fibreglass Wool INSUreflector
Reflective Insulation: Control heat!
Comparison between Resin Bonded Fibreglass
Wool and INSUrelfector
Reflective Insulation has one primary
function and that is to reduce heat
transfer across open spaces, which is
a significant contributor to heat gain
in summer and heat loss in winter.
There are many other materials that
have the same function, however
reflective insulation has an “E” value
of 0.03. Hence Reflective Insulation
is superior to other types of insulating
materials in reducing heat flow by
radiation.
Many factors that make Reflective
Insulation the best are:
• Reflective Insulation does not
have significant mass to absorb and
retain heat
• Reflective Insulation has lower
moisture transfer and absorption
rates, in most cases
• Reflective Insulation typical
cross-section consists of two layers
of Aluminium Foil seperated by
factory laminated high-performance
Air Bubble Film unlike other fiberous
materials
• Reflective insulation provides
ease of handling & quick simple
installation to meet challenging
project deadlines
INSUreflector made of polyethylene
Air Bubble Film (ABF) is a low
e-reflective insulation material which
blocks the radiant heat transfer. It is
nature and environment friendly
non-toxic and fibre free.
Did you know?
Supreme is the only Indian company to manufacture XLPE foam
(INSUshield) & Nitrile Foam Tubing (INSUflex) in house.
Performance
Heated metal roof allows heat to be
absorbed by the glass fibers beneath,
which is later released downwards. The
foil doesn’t contribute in retarding the
flow of heat.
INSUreflector’s surface facing the metal
roof for under-metal roofing areas
performs by reflecting the radiant heat
back into space above. This helps in
reducing temperature.
Noise Transmission
Fiberglass wool is normally poor in
providing sound transmission loss.
INSUreflector provides a 28dB sound
transmission loss.
Material Handling
Fiberglass products are cumbersome,
irritable and difficult to handle and apply.
INSUreflector is available in rolls of large
format. They are light and easy to handle
and install.
Thermal Resistance
Fiberglass products gradually lose their
thickness from the time they are packed
in rolls, opened at site and applied in
position. Any absorption of moisture
would lead to increase of thermal
conductivity of material and thus loss of
thermal resistance.
INSUreflector could be applied in
various configurations to provide higher
thermal resistance. Air spaces
combining with the positioning of the
Radiant Barrier lead to at least 60%
higher thermal resistance in
comparison.
Material
Bonded glass fibers have Aluminium foil
on one side. For under-metal roofing
application the foil merely functions to
provide support to the material.
INSUreflector has reflective surfaces of
Aluminium foil on both/one side of
polyethylene air bubble.

Comparison between Bitumen Board &

Constructions that resist Earthquakes
India is known to be a victim of
devastating earthquakes. The main
reason that constitutes for this
devastation is that the Indian plate is
driving into Asia at a rate of
approximately 47 mm/year.
Geographical statistics of India show
that almost 54% of the land is
vulnerable to earthquakes. A World
Bank & United Nations report
estimates that around 200 million city
dwellers in India will be exposed to
storms and earthquakes by 2050. To
sustain such strong shakes, it has
been advised that a building should
be slightly flexible so as to withstand
the stresses caused in various parts
of the building. It is advised that two
buildings have enough space for
vibration. An expansion joint is an
assembly designed to safely absorb
the heat-induced expansion and
contraction of various construction
materials, to absorb vibration, to hold
certain parts together, or to allow
movement due to ground settlement
or earthquakes.
And this is where DURAboardHD100
comes into play. DURAboardHD100
is a high performance expansion
joint filler board that keeps every
construction durable. Diverse
weather conditions cause crack
formations, however DURAboard
HD100 prevents this. Far superior to
Bitumen Board, this product is a
much sought after product by many.
DURAboardhd 100 can be used in
expansion joints in new structures as
well as in concrete road stretches
ensuring no cracks or water
leakages through the joint.
After all it is your life at stake and not
anyone else’s.

Refrain from vicious gossiping
about anybody in your
company. A little chitchat near
the water cooler on television
shows, friends etc is safe and
fun. It improves interpersonal
relationships.
Maintain a positive attitude and
avoid any negative comments
in times of any strained work
matters. Keep your language
as clean as possible.
Seeking opinions from your
colleagues will help you
improve your work. It will also
help avoid inconsistency of any
kind. When addressing
somebody, be kind with your
words.
In case of any fights, quarrels,
let the opposite person
complete. Later confront the
situation with calmness and
respond in the softest manner
possible.
Name calling at workplace
leads to ugly situations which
also leads to sacking of
employees. Avoid this and
address every problem with a
sense of maturity.
The first and foremost thing an
individual needs to imbibe is the
fact that university textbooks do
not provide practical knowledge.
Steve Jobs followed his own
management style.
At workplace, learn to handle
even the bluntest delivery of
criticism. It will help you grow
and improve, in work and
personal life as well.
Leadership comes to people
with innovation. Come up with
new ideas, take risks and learn
from your mistakes.
It was a pleasure to have everybody take keen interest in the game-The Search

congratulations to each of them and specially to the 1st 4 for their quick response.
