2. Our primary audience would be teenagers around the ages of 15-18,
which is the same age group of our main character.
We wanted our film to relate more to teenagers as there is not that many
films of this theme based around this age group.
3. Since our main character is a
vulnerable teenage boy with
problems, the main audience would be
women as stereotypically this is the
sort of heart wrenching stuff females
like. (kinda hearted, misunderstood
boy with a deep story and not an
ounce of douche in them)
This also appeals to their caring,
emotional side.
4. However the secondary audience would
be teenage boys going through similar
situations, who can relate to the
character (or the teen girl mourning him)
Being able to relate to the character
draws the audience in, and can also make
them feel less isolated in their situations.
Especially since stereotypically men are
portrayed in the media as strong and not
at all weak or vulnerable, which is just not
true yet they are made to feel ‘ashamed’
or different having emotions like these
through films.
Also teenage boys are portrayed badly in
quite a lot of films, which our product
fights that stereotype. Though our film
does not show that boys don’t have to
walk the streets, smoke, or terrorise
grannies to be accepted (because our
character isn't accepted fully within
society, and he doesn’t do those things),
it does show that boys can be kind,
emotional, caring and not have to repress
their feelings and change their identity.
This is why teenage boys will want to
watch our film, because it doesn’t put
them down.
An example of a ‘kind hearted, misunderstood boy
with a deep story and not an ounce of douche in
them’ who has suffered loss.
5. Another secondary audience for our product would be fans of the drama genre. This
would include anyone of any gender and any age who just really like
verisimilitudinous films, or lesser known films.
6. Our audience would be primarily
British because it’s a small, British film.
Because of the way it was created (in a
rural place, unknown actors, the
verisimilitude etc.…) it would be better
understood by a British audience than,
for example, an American audience
who have different views of ‘rural’ and
teenagers.
Obviously the themes are universal,
so we would hope our film have a
small global audience , however it
would be a small film, so the chances
of that would be small.
