practice overview
H W Ingleton & Co and John S Wood began practising in
the mid 1930’s. In the 1960’s they merged under the name of
Ingleton Wood which, since that time, has grown into a multi-
disciplinary property and construction consultancy. In 2004 the
Practice became a Limited Liability Partnership.
In 2017 we purchased Martindales Architects Ltd, an
architectural Practice based in Cambridge. This acquisition
enables us to provide expanded services from our Cambridge
office and positions us well to take advantage of this buoyant
market.
Our commissions range from large-scale new build and
refurbishment projects to smaller value design and construction
work.We provide construction and property consultancy across
all sectors and over a range of disciplines. Our interest is in
developing long term relationships with clients where we service
all their property needs both with respect to new and existing
buildings. As a Practice we can add value at every stage of
development, from initial survey and concept planning through
to the design, engineering and fit-out of interior spaces.
Sustainability is a central theme to our work.We can deliver
innovative and practical energy-saving designs or assist clients
with reducing the carbon footprint of their existing building stock.
We are one of a few medium-sized consultancies offering
integrated design and technical expertise. Clients can access a
comprehensive range of specialist skills through a single point of
contact. Our approach helps to streamline projects and deliver
better value for money.
We operate an integrated management system for quality
management (ISO 9001), an environmental management
system (ISO 14001) and an Occupational Health and Safety
management system to (BS OHSAS 18001).
The Practice has grown on the basis of repeat business. We
believe in establishing strong relationships with our clients which
develop into partnerships for the future.

11. project management
The Project Manager is the person that drives a
project and all those involved towards an agreed
end date for an agreed budget. The Project
Manager works extremely closely with the client;
shepherding stakeholders and assisting to define
the brief. The Project Manager also liaises and
organises the design team, contractor and any third
parties that need to be involved in the successful
delivery of a project. A good Project Manager
needs to be adaptive, personable, persuasive,
organised and driven. At Ingleton Wood our
Project Managers fill all these criteria. Excelling
in communication both within and outside our
organisation their can do attitude provides the
platform which gives projects the greatest chance
of success.
Providing the day to day liaison with clients and
dealing with risk and change requires exacting
systems and procedures. Our ISO accredited and
BIM ready Practice ensures that the management
and communication of project information is
universally applied by a set of procedures and
principals that meet the very highest of industry
standards.
Project management is an integral part of what
we do, dependant upon the size or complexity of
the project undertaken, we always look to assign a
Project Manager. Often the skills and focus required
by members of other disciplines to deliver design or
engineering excellence are better served focussing
on their task, rather than being diluted by a project
management role. A dedicated Project Manager
will make the whole process run more smoothly and
allow all the members of the design team to perform
at their optimum level.
Our project management services include:
▪▪ Project management
▪▪ Employers agent
▪▪ Programme management
▪▪ Procurement advice and contract assessment
▪▪ Developing project briefs

13. building information modelling (BIM)
Ingleton Wood have offered 3D modelling services for
many years and with the rising maturity of building
information modelling (BIM) within the construction
industry we have expanded our understanding and
capability to ensure we are equipped to deliver BIM
projects.
Our architecture and building services teams have
experience with handling complicated multi-building
and multi-discipline modelling projects.These require
higher levels of coordination through clash detection,
collaborative modelling and hosting live model
workshops during design team meetings.
Our sustainability teams can provide integrated
energy analysis services through data extraction
directly from a BIM model. Projects can be evaluated
at very early design stages to ensure that they will
meet and exceed client and regulatory requirements.
With civil and structural engineering, we are in an
ideal position to offer multi-disciplinary BIM solutions.
Ingleton Wood understand that the transition to
BIM can be difficult and confusing. In addition to
delivering BIM projects through our design services
we can also act as information co-ordinators for
clients, contractors and designers who wish to
expand their own experience of delivering BIM
projects.

16. testimonials
Benefit Cosmetics UK Ireland
“From start to finish of what was a fairly lengthy
process, Ingleton Wood supported us and more
importantly, worked with us to ensure that we
moved into our beautiful listed building on time
and with everything that we needed to the correct
specification and into an office space that worked
for our brand.
Ingleton Wood were with us for the duration of works
on site ensuring that they built strong relationships
not only us as the client, but also the contractors
that were working on the building, making the
whole process so much easier. Ingleton Wood have
a fantastic all round knowledge enabling them to
provide detailed advice and guidance throughout
the process.
As well as the works to our new offices, Ingleton
Wood also worked with us on the dilapidations
of our old offices negotiating with our previous
landlords ensuring that we were given a fair
settlement price.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use Ingleton Wood again – a
great company!”
City College Norwich
“We gave Ingleton Wood a very challenging brief
and they really captured our aspirations from the
outset providing a stunning building that will make
a real difference to our students. It was a pleasure
working with Ingleton Wood team and we are
delighted with what has been achieved on a very
tight budget.
Not only did we ask Ingleton Wood to deliver
a compelling and highly flexible building to
accommodate a broad range of specialist student
needs, the site we chose was a really complex one.
Whilst inclusivity and engagement with the wider
college was key, many of our students are extremely
vulnerable and protecting their personal wellbeing
was paramount. With this in mind Ingleton Wood
worked closely with our faculty team to get balance
of the layout right.
Given the prominence of the site location, we’re
delighted with how the old and new elements work
together. The bold use of colour throughout the
building is an important part of the PMLD Centre’s
programme which aims to encourage visual and
physical stimulation.”
