LGBTI Emergency Assistance
We are global
Dignity for All is a global consortium composed of 8 international and
regional organizations, providing emergency assistance, advocacy
funding, and security support to human rights defenders and civil
society organizations under threat or attack due to their work for
LGBTI rights.
We do this through 3 mechanisms:
• Emergency Assistance Grants for relocation, legal, medical and
other emergency-related needs.
• Proactive Security Trainings to build knowledge and skills to help
keep human rights defenders, their organizations, and communities
safer from threats.
• Urgent Security, Opportunity, Advocacy Rapid Response (SOAR)
Grants that allow organizations working in unpredictable, often
hostile, environments to counteract imminent threats and
respond to opportunities to advance the rights of LGBTI people.
Since September 2012, we have awarded 317 grants in 76 countries
and territories, and held 41 security trainings in 25 countries and
territories around the globe.
Dignity has awarded 317 grants in 76 countries and territories as of September 30, 2016
234 emergency grants + 83 SOAR grants = 317

We are global
Dignity is a consortium composed of 8 international and regional
organizations. The global scope of our work unites, makes our reach
wide and far, enables a context-specific approach paired with
efficiency in sharing of regional expertise, and brings diverse
perspectives.
We are holistic
We look at safety & security as reactive - responding to threats;
proactive - actively minimizing risks and mitigating threats; and
preventive - tackling threats before they occur. We build sustainability
by approaching threat environments from a community-based, rather
than an individual perspective. The flexibility of our 3 mechanisms
allows us to respond rapidly and holistically to evolving threats and
opportunities.
We are movement-based
We are rooted in the communities we work in and have a deep
understanding and connection to our movements. Our connectedness
allows us to embed emergency response within a broader context
of contributing to movement sustainability. Our approach ensures
long-term cost effectiveness by strengthening resilient communities
worldwide.
As of September 30, 2016, Dignity consortium partners have held a total of 41 security trainings
in 31 cities (25 countries), training 618 activists around the world .
