This document summarizes why the photo editing service Pics.io is needed. It explains that while most people share photos taken on phones or cameras to social media in JPEG format, shooting in RAW format allows for better editing and higher quality photos. This photo was taken by John during his trip to Georgia. It's nice,
yeah? And that's what most of the people store on their hard drives
and share to Facebook, Flickr etc.

And that's what he was able to make from it just because shoot
in Raw instead of JPEG.
Better?

Few more examples. And, yes, processing each of those
photos took 20-50 seconds.

So why does a majority of people
don't use Raw today?
Getting perfect shots is a pretty complicated
process. It also relies on some expensive
software. Registration, purchasing and
installation of that software is an extra
complexity that stops most of the people.
We decided to take the complexity away.

We make the whole process a lot
simpler
We let people turn their photos into
masterpieces without installing any software.
All they need - a browser and an account at
Pics.io.
We also solve the problem of backup allowing
to store whole photo collection in user's
personal cloud.
