How did you use new media technologies
in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?

2. Construction Phase
There has been a lot of technology use through the
construction phase. There was a lot of filming using
fancy cameras, there was a lot of creation happening
using editing software both for video and picture.
Throughout the blog you will have learnt which ones
we chose for each, such as Sony Vegas for editing and
using Adobe After Effects to touch it up. I shall go
through these in some detail now.

3. Construction - Editing
What we used: Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects
Why?: It was very easy to access these tools and
therefore had been our choice as if there was a need for
any quick changes the program can be easily accessed
and the changes can be made quite easily and
professionally. Also experience played a big role.
What we did not use: Windows Movie Maker
Why?: Common sense, the availability of better
products, common sense again.

4. Construction - Filming
What we used: Camera Phone, Nikon Powershot
SX520
Why?: The camera was high quality so paired with a
tripod allowed us to get a good quality for our video,
and by using this superior technology we could make a
much better end product. The phone was used to take
a picture of us using the camera as proof.

5. Construction - Digipak
What we used: GIMP
Why?: We used GIMP because it allows a wide variety
of editing to use on photos. While some say that it was
hard and complicated to use, they are scrubs and are
not as experienced as me. I found it incredibly
straightforward to use once you get used to it. I believe
it was a very good and effective tool in helping shape
the digipak into a product we like and thought
reflected the other parts we constructed well due to the
high quality thanks to the software.

6. Research & Planning
For research and planning I had used several things.
One of these was Sony Vegas. This was used a few
times to help illustrate my point with videos and make
the research and planning section vary a little bit. In
addition to that I had also used YouTube Videos for
that same reason. This was all done on blogger, a
media that lets me convey this to you without shouting
it at you or coming over your house to talk about it.
Without this technology it would be more difficult for
me to get the top notch work and jokes through like I
do now, so it played a crucial role this year.

7. Research & Planning
I have also used Slideshare and Prezi to look at other
peoples work and collate the research and planning for
my blog, also Slideshare allows for embedding which
makes the blog look nicer, on Prezi I could not find
this function. Without these platforms I would have a
much harder time finding the things to put on my
blogs, for the same reason google images was used.
Without that I would pretty much have none of my
jokes or my work, so it would be like a double
catastrophe really.

8. Evaluation
In my evaluation I have used 3 tools of higher media in
order to make me look like the technical G-Whiz I am.
I have used the YouTube, Slideshare and Prezi
facilities and answered the questions on these. Because
of this we can get some nice variation for the blog. This
also helps as using these different ways to convey my
answers and findings shows that I can use different
tools to create higher quality work. Without these we
would have to read mountains of my awful jokes
without a snazzy background for example, which could
bore us a fair bit and it would reflect badly on me and
my media skills.

9. Summary
Wow I sure do love summaries don’t I?
Overall I believe that without these new fancy media
technologies the products that have been created this year
would be the quality of a potato and would not fully reflect
the skills and ability that me and my group convey. Having
access to these technologies helped to create a truly
professional piece of work and have let us showcase just
what we can do. This has also helped us from last year as
last year I would say I had not been anywhere this
confident with the usage of such medias, but now I have
learnt to use them to a good level and feel like if this
exercise was to be done again my improved knowledge of
technology would even better reflect in a final product.
