This is a summary of 7 habits of highly effective people, with pictures charts and tools used in the book that can be very handy in imbibing the essence of the book as a whole. Though it is my personal recommendation that one must take out time to read the entire book. As this whatever available in this presentation will cover not more than a small chunk of the complete essence of the book.

Empathy in leadership : how will it serve the leaders and the team? Much has been talked about the need for leaders to have empathy. At the same time, the conversation of how to develop empathy and on whether empathy can be learned or not has surfaced too. Before we go into how empathy can be developed, let's take a look at how empathy helps leaders to be more effective with their team and what to be cautious on ie on how empathy can go wrong. Yes, you read that right. It CAN go wrong, if it's not exercised with other EQ competencies and it can lead to burnout. I believe this has been one of the major reasons why some leaders are very cautious or even reluctant about exercising empathy with their team. Let me know what do you think.

Business Ethics Session 2: Business Ethics Theories I Business Ethics Theories 1. Summary of Session I 2. Introduction to Business Ethics Theories 3. Business Ethics Theories (Part I) 4. Discussion: Wiki Leaks 5. Exercise: A Tale of Two Stories 6. The Paradise Papers Introduction to Business Ethics Theories Ethical Decision-Making What to decide in ambitious/complicated situations? What to decide in a dilemma situation? Ethical theory can help to find a solution. Introduction to Business Ethics Theories • Ethical Theories provides part of the solution when decisions need to be made in situations where ethics (right and wrong) play a role. • Ethical theories provide guidelines. • Each theory emphasizes different points: – A different decision-making style, or – A decision rule – eg to predict the outcome of the decision and to follow duties to others in order to reach what the said individual considers to be ethically correct. Introduction to Business Ethics Theories In order to understand ethical decision-making, it is important to acknowledge that not everyone makes decisions in the same way by using exactly the same information. To further understand ethical theory, there must be a common understanding of a common set of goals based on ethical principles: • Beneficence • Least Harm • Respect for autonomy • Justice Introduction to Business Ethics Theories Common set of goals based on ethical principles: • Beneficence – Guides the decision-maker to do what is good and right. – « to do good » makes the possible solution to an ethical dilemma acceptable – The principle is related to utilty theory (we should attempt to to generate the largest ration of good over evil possible in the world. Introduction to Business Ethics Theories Common set of goals based on ethical principles: • Least Harm – As in the case of beneficence, least harm deals with situations in which no choice seems beneficial. – In these cases, decision-makers base their decisions on doing the least harm to the greater number of people. Introduction to Business Ethics Theories Common set of goals based on ethical principles: • Respect for autonomy – This principle states that decision-making should focus on allowing people to be autonomous – to be able to make decisions that apply to their lives. • Justice – Decision-makers should focus on actions that are fair to those involved. Ethical Theories I. Egoism/ Liberalism II. Utilitarianism III. Ethics of Duties/ Deontology/ Kantianism IV. Natural Rights Theory Business Ethics Theories I. Egoism/ Liberalism Implies that the individual follows his/her long-term interest. Egoism is not selfishness. Enlightened self-interest implies that, for example, CSR activities are sometimes implemented, because they have a positive long-term impact on the financial performance of a company. Case Study 3: The Health Belief Model and COVID- 19 Ar Using the Health Belief Model, discuss why some people might not have followed the "safer at home" practices (e.g., social distancing, masking, no large gatherings) after the vaccine became widely available. Minimum word count 250. ("Behavioral Change Models" discusses the Health Belief Model.) Public health is a multi-disciplinary field that aims to 1) prevent disease and death, 2) promote a better quality of ife, and 3) create environmental conditions in which people can be healthy by intervening at the institutional, community, and societal level. Whether public health practitioners can achieve this mission depends upon their abilty to accurately identify and define public health problems, assess the fundamental causes of these problems, determine populations most at-risk, develop and implement theory- and evidence-based interventions, and evaluate and refine those interventions to ensure that they are achieving their desired outcomes without unwanted negative consequences. To be effective in these endeavors, public health practitioners must know how to apply the basic principles, theories, research findings, and methods of the social and behavioral sciences to inform their efforts. A thorough understanding of theories used in public health, which are mainly derived from the social and behavioral sciences, allow practitioners to: - Assess the fundamental causes of a public health problem, and - Develop interventions to address those problems. Note: This module has been translated into Estonian by Marie Stetanova. The translation can be accessed at htips:/uww.bildeleekspert di/blog/2018/08/06/sotsiaalsete-normide-teooria/ Learning Objectives After successfully reviewing these modules, students will be able to: - List and describe the key constructs of the Health Belief Model and the theory of planned behavior and explain how they might be applied to develop effective public heath interventions - List and describe the elements of "perceived behavioral contror - Describe the underlying theory and basic elements of Social Norms Theory and marketing campaigns - List and describe the key constructs of Social Cognitive Theory and explain how they might be applied to develop effective public health interventions Summarize the criticisms that have been made regarding the major traditional models of health behavior change and why these models do not seem adequate to account for observed health behaviors Outine the major steps in the Transtheoretical Model - List the characteristics of each step of the Transtheoretical Model - Describe Diffusion of Innovation Theory and how it can be applied in heath promotion - Outline the basic structures of the Theory of Gender and Power and its application to Public Health - Explain the constructs of the Sexual Health Model and its application to public health The Health Belief Model The Heath Belief Model (HBM) was developed in the early 1950 s by social sci.
