Here at Kaiser SFO perioperative services, we have seen a sharp increase in interest taken in our own health. We have several employees that have achieved tremendous goals in terms of weight loss and who have participated in numerous fitness and exercise programs in the community.

Intent to Contribute Statement:
Kaiser Permanente's thrive campaign has become an enigmatic slogan to which we can all be proud. Here at Kaiser
SFO perioperative services, this is no exception. Here in surgery, our nurses and ancillary staff have taken this
mission to heart. In addition to the excellent care our nurses provide for our members, we have seen a sharp
increase in interest taken in their own health. Now, more than ever, we are seeing staff members making healthier
dietary choices. We have several employees that have achieved tremendous goals in terms of weight loss.
Additionally, our staff members have participated in numerous fitness and exercise programs in the
community, many of them sponsored by Kaiser Permanente. We are proud of these employees, and as such would
like to honor those who have taken such efforts to care for themselves, so that they may take better care of
patients. We hold these staff members in high regard, and recognize their efforts in not only improving their own
lives, but also providing positive encouragement for other staff members to climb on the healthy bandwagon. As
such, our nursing team have made intentional strides towards their well-being, translating to improved health not
only for the team, but also as a lead by example campaign for our members. Our proposed contribution to the 2013
caritas consortium will include visual aids in terms of posters/signage highlighting the healthier choices made by our
staff members. We hope to include specific testimonials from some of the employees that have made the most
significant strides in terms of nutrition and fitness. Healthier employees transcend to healthier members, an
objective of which we can all be proud.
